I swore I was going to try to whine as little as possible in my journal but I do need to vent a little. Today was really frusterating, I swear some days it feels more like what next than poker. I actually did post a win today + $125 but at one point I was close to $1100 and all hell broke loose. When your hands hold up this game can feel so easy and when the suckouts wont stop it really can feel like you will never win, the 2nd part is where I am at right now. I played really well today overall, things went really well at the begginning. I limp raised with AA and won a stack and a half from JJ+ dead money. I actually hit a big draw, I pushed into the maniac with [Ac] [Jc] on a [Kc] [Tc] [9s] board, he called with 107o and I rivered the [6c] for the nuts. I make the nut straight on a 2345 board and get called all in on the river by AX.

Then all the fun starts.

I get A10, flop is 1073 with 2 hearts. I bet $30, get 2 callers both bad players, board pairs 3 on the turn, I bet $150. Donkey #1 is all in for $165 with K10 and rivers a K.

No set over sets today but this one is pretty freakin close. I call a $20 raise with 55. BB raises to $40, he is an awfull player who has been getting hit in the head with the deck. I call so does half the table. Flop is TT2, it checks around. Turn is an 7, checks around again. River is a 5, UTG bets $50, I raise to $150, BB goes all in, which is another $75 or so in my stack and he has 107 and another fucking cold deck.

Final hand of the night for me. Same moron from the hand above. I have $400 he covers, we are down to 5 handed. I look down at KK in the BB. Donkey raises to $15, I make it $50. both players in the middle call. Donkey reraise $100 on top. I push, the other players fold, he calls with 55. Flop is 953. $900 pot again as a 4.5:1 fav.

I played a hugely long session 14 hrs to be exact, I only flopped one set and it was on a 3 diamond flop. I burned through quite a bit of money calling small raises with small pairs and SC and folding to a missed flop. I really need this to even out soon would be nice. I keep getting cold decked and I really havent been on the good end of one yet. I am making pretty good plays, made a couple good folds today, it really could have been worse but it is still kinda frusterating. I am going to take tommorrow off as a mental health precaution day, plus after 14 hrs I'm pretty beat.

DanDan, I will be in the bay area for a couple weeks starting Dec 22 maybe we can meet up at AJ's since I still havent been there.

To answer your question what is my VPIP live, it really depends on the table. Today I spent a good chunk of the day with a guy who raised every pot to my left and right so it was pretty damn low. In general I like to see a lot of flops live, I read players better than almost anyone at my game so it seems like seeing flops with hands I can make monsters with or outplay people is +ev for me. I would say I seem up to 35% of the flops in a passive preflop table.

Sounds like fun. AJ's is more LHE than NL, unless you like a $2K minimum buyin game which my bankroll doesn't allow yet(only $34985349857 away myself :P ). Yeah, I definitely understand how the table plays into it...I've seen a variety of different tables, although at L. Chances they seem to love that live straddle alot. 14 hour sessions are tite.

That would be great if we could play a little; I'll keep an eye out for when you are coming around.

I just got to lose two $250 pots last night- first hand of cash game I have 8-9 against 2-7 on a board of 9-8-6 rainbow and he calls my check-raise all-in on the flop and he turns the 10 - Another in PL Omaha Hi-Lo where I flopped 2-7-J rainbow with A-3-7-7 and I lost all-in to the running straight (Q on the turn, K on the river and he had 10-9).

I really feel like I'm ready to quit poker - the upswing just hasn't happened in the last year, just nothing but suckouts, cold decks, and further poker brutality.

You'd have to be into S&M to keep playing the way I'm running.

I'm glad the horrors of poker that have been inflicted on me over the last couple months have at least contributed to some good in the scheme of things.

Still nonetheless horribly depressing....
