Ice - I made a $60 or $70 bet into a $90 pot on the river. There is no way the pot was that small if you raised to 9 preflop, I re-raised you on the flop AND I bet the turn. It's just not mathematically possible. I definately checked behind on the turn. I called around $25-$30 after you pushed, and I only gave you $100 on the hand, so there's no way I bet the turn.

And to say that Q high has as good of a chance as 2nd pair of being good when there are 3 diamonds on the flop, and the turn and river comes blank is just silly, IMO. You played the hand very tricky, IMO, and it definately threw me for a loop. If you were playing straightforward, your most likely holding would have been something like AK, AQ with a high diamond, which is what I had hoped to get you to muck. However, my bluff was so bad that I'm not sure you fold a missed AK here, since my play was so obvious that I was bluffing and had nothing, due to my check on the turn.

So, we were both wrong. I did check behind on the turn, but I did make an even weaker bluff on the river than I originally thought. Actually I don't mind my river bluff nearly as much as I did when I thought I bet 75% of the pot, my river bluff in that situation could definately look like a milker with a weak pair, or even a J, which could get you to fold an AK with the A of diamonds. I did check behind on teh turn and you checked AGAIN to me on the river, which was what was so odd. Some sort of pocket pair or AK with 1 diamond IMO is your most likely holding. Since I'm betting so small that I'm getting good odds on my bluff (only needs to work like 25% of the time) and it may be able to get you to muck AK, I don't mind the bluff at the end nearly as much as before.

I checked it back again because I really thought you would take a stab at it. I couldnt believe you would raise that flop and then just check it down.

I normally would never play a hand this way. I only did it because it was you. Too bad I screwed our other big hand together up.

Part of being a LAG is knowing people put me on weak holdings most of the time. So when I know someone is adjusting their play and I've got TPTK, I'm not going to fold it unless I know the guy has a monster. I don't think you were going to take me off of that one.

Well, to hijack the thread back again....

I thought it was a reasonable attempt at representing the flush ... check-call with the draw (I was of course drawing at this point, just not to the flush), check-raise 1/2 my remaining stack with the flush, push the rest in at the end.

Kalle's point about betting the turn with the flush is a fair one, but I don't always bet out there with a reasonably high flush (and I wouldn't have called unless I had overcards or similar as well).

Given I set out from the flop with the intention of representing a flush draw, it's pretty disappointing that nobody thinks I succeeded!!

I think the two big problems with my play on this hand (and in general on the night) were:
(1) Not considering my image when I made moves
(2) Not thinking about what my opponents had - I would never have bluffed if I'd put you on a straight

All in all, it was a pretty good learning experience for my shorthanded LAG game, which failed to prevail against tougher than usual opposition.

(as an aside, I don't think I wondered how you could call, ie being critical, ... I just expressed surprise when you said it I played it like a bluff).
