Fold or push?

Postby MVPSPORTS » Wed Apr 27, 2005 2:27 pm

I think this is an easy fold, but I'm probably one of the tighter players on BTP... I had just sat down at a 1/2 NL game at the Mirage in Vegas, I think this was my fifth hand, so there's no way he had a read on me, except that I had folded all of the previous hands, and bought in for the max...

I'm dealt KK in MP... limped to me, I raise $12 (which is pretty much the standard raise in a B&M 1/2 game... not sure why except out of laziness (there's already 2, add 10)), CO calls, Button, who has about $350 to my $200, raises to $35... BB calls... I raise to $100... CO folds...

Button thinks for like 10 seconds, then calls...

Flop... 8,4,2... I push, he calls and flips over Qs, acting all pissed off... Doesn't improve, and I double up my fifth hand...

I'm trying to figure out what this guy put me on... I was actually thinking that I might have pushed too hard, but I didn't want to see a 4-way pot... I know online poker people will go allin w/ crap a lot of times, but I didn't really notice that there, plus he didn't even know who I was (not like I'm famous or anything, but he would've seen I'm very TA if he had waited...)... I just think it was a bad play by him, and want to know who else would have called the PF reraise, knowing I was gonna push the flop cause I was pretty pot committed at that point... The only hands I can see him putting me on are AA,KK where he's behind, maybe AKs which is a coin flip, and if he's real lucky QQ=push or JJ, which was unlikely...

Any thoughts are appreciated...

he might have thought you were one of the normal muppets and you could be doing that with a great many hands including TT, JJ or even AK.

B&M play sucks horribly compared to online play. I still cant believe some of things I saw last time I played live.
