Tough KK situation

Postby JDLush » Thu Apr 28, 2005 7:24 am

Full Tilt $25 NL

Typical tight FTP table. Most raises take the blinds, not many hands going to showdown. I have been there for 3 orbits and the one LAG that was there when I sat down has since lost his stack and left.

I have KK in the cutoff, one UTG+1 limper and it folds to me. I raise it to $1.50, all fold, limper calls. I have $21, limper has $22.50. Flop comes JJT with 2 spades.

Limper bets out $10.

Fold. If hes bluffing so be it, but i can find better spots than this all day long.

There was a post very similar to this on another forum yesterday.
A guy limped in EP. Button raised. Flop was KKx. Limper lead out with pot sized bet and button called. EP pushed all in at the turn and Button called with QQ.

Several people thought the guy with QQ made a good call. I said "call me weak tight but I can find better spots all day. Im folding the flop" EP had AK..

Its going to cost you way too much to find out if this guy is bluffing. Just let him have it.

This thread is very educational for me. Prior to reading this thread I would push. Now I have more to consider. I like the reasoning behind reasons to fold as well. I think the only possible hands (besides bluffs) is A10 or an underpair. I think most players check an underpair but I could see A10 betting strong figuring he can get AK and AQ to fold rather than check and guess what the preflop raiser has when he bets.

Thanks guys. This thread has gotten me to consider new lines of thought when faced with this type of situation. I will also add that my win rate has gone up considerably since I have gained the restraint to fold in tough spots (spots I used to not think through, just called or reraised) more often.

Speaking of shorthanded play: 7th hand in. The raiser preflop just raised the hand before with KQo. after 2 limpers.
