100plo8 line check 2

Postby Kuso » Sat Jan 06, 2007 3:47 am

5-handed. button is a maniac, but seemed less willing to play big pots with me since i showed down a monster a few orbits ealier (AA2Kss, capped the flop, hit the flush, and stacked two people). CO has W$SD of 70%, but only after 100 hands (i.e., not so reliable). rough read of CO is that he shows down a lot of decent hands, but not always the nuts, and seems to be a bit of a CS (a bit more reliable even on a small sample).

since Button was a maniac, i was going to CR the flop. no dice. given the lack of flop action and the fact that we were 5-handed, i figured my hand was good AND i had the low redraw. my question are these:

my answers:

1) it seems like a coinflip to me -- i can bet and hope to get him to fold a weak flush or i can check and hope he checks behind with his weak flush. obviously, i lean towards pushing -- at these levels i feel like i might be giving up some ev since a lot of weaker hands will call (e.g., broadway). that being said, i'm not sure this is not a chip spew. since there was only $16 left on the cap, i figured that i might as well do the betting.

2) i wonder if betting something like $12 on the turn will accomplish the same things as the $18 while leaving enough behind to push someone off a hand (esp if a low comes). that being said, what's the line if a low doesn't come?

thoughts?

I think I like both plays really. I might make a similar bet with the nut flush on the river so if either opponent is vaguely observant (and you said that the maniac, the only one who legitimately might try to bluff you off, was, and was maybe a bit gunshy) it's unlikely you'll get bluffed off it. I reckon the turn is fine.
