As I told you before, Iceman, I am just a rookie. I have been reading from you (right here) for a few month. I have to agree with you that one should leave those pots behind. In this 4 month of playing, I´ve changed my ratings from Calling Station to Vanilla to TPA and now a StoneKiller (TAA).

Watching my PT stats, I was seeing 20-19% of flops (24.5 inshorthanded),, W$WSF at 37% and W$ at SD in 46%, and still I was losing money. The solution I knew it before seeing and analyzing my stats, I WAS CALLING TOO MANY HANDS LIKE THAT!

I dont know why so many great players like the ones who replied to this post dont see that, and push in situation like this. I think there is more PRIDE than cold THINKING. In NL$25 you have to protect your trips from the flush draw and, believe me, most of the time the best way is push with an overbet. I was reading the EV article and according to EV is better for you if the villain calls, given that your villain is going to hit about 32% of times, but there are many players like me who just hate to be outdrawn.

I, like Iceman, would put him in : "Ok, I called with J-Crap (or AJ, whatever) and the pot is already 20BB, that is good enough for this hand, I will go allin to take him out of the pot, dont want a lucky bastard to outdraw me" . I,, IMHO, would put him there and leave the pot with only a few BB less. I have started to win after I stop believing that everyone wanted to bluff me.

Maybe i will see thing different in the future, but I feel good I have Iceman to back my position. Or better said, That I agree with what Ice has stated.

My respect to all of you, Gurus.

Wow, a lot of ridiculously good posts on this one. I am glad that my misfortune has been so helpful. :)

Looking at my PT stats from the previous month (my first losing month ever unless I hit some miracles in the next day or 2) it seems like I have been making WAY too many calls like this. Most situations are similar to this one - I have a much better hand preflop and some sphincter got lucky. Rather than acknowledging my misfortune and stopping the bleeding, I call to prove (to myself, I guess) that I got dicked over.

I think I still would have had a bad month, and most likely shown a loss, but it certainly would not have been this bad. I have a fresh supply of nicotine patches and a couple of leftover cases of Sam Adams White Ale; I am officially ready for May! I'll be in Vegas next weekend with a bankroll, buffet comp, and a chubby.

Thanks Ice, Palman, et al for the killer analysis.

Heh, heh, I said anal. :)

no way i fold. no way ever. nope never ever would i ever fold this on the flop in a $25 game. this moron could hold 22 and think he's leading against AK. 19/20 times this guy will NOT have the jack. the $25 tables are all about slowplaying.

I THINK IT'S A SIN TO FOLD THIS HAND IN THIS SPOT.

and one more thing:

iceman and palman... i believe we have a match! you guys should get married with all those compliments you were dishing off to each other! after all..opposites do attract.

:)

How do you play the hand Kenny? Personally I dont care if he has 22. Im letting him have it.

Low variance......Fold...Fold..Fold...Fold....Knockout Punch. Thats my motto.
