hand 1

as usual, depends on reads. if villain likes to float the flop and fold on the turn, then maybe another barrel is justified. the fact is, that 8 didn't really change much. if he has the nut low, he still has it, and if he has a high, it's probably still good. a bet here could really only make a bare overpair (i.e., no low) fold. at these stakes, you might not even get that.

as such, i often check behind on the turn, manage the pot size, and try to induce a bluff on the river. this is especially true if villain is aggressive.

i think the turn bet gave you a difficult river decision. i'd really want to know villains W$SD to help with this decision. as played, i'd probably fold most of the time if i had any respect for villain since you'll see the A3 flush here quite a bit. calling against blufftards and lags is perfectly fine.

hand 2

once you see the turn, you have to decide whether you want to show this down or not -- being oop makes your line tough. if you decide to show it down, i think check-call on the turn and river is the way to go since you're unlikely to get any substantial bets called from weaker hands. fwiw, quads will often check this turn hoping to induce a river bluff and lower pocket pairs will check to see if you bet the river, so that's why i think the check-check is a good line.

again, W$SD is a great stat to look at here as most of your plain vanilla villains with a high number here will rarely bet two streets without the goods.
wwcrd?
