this is something i've been thinking about lately. i think the time to pop it is on the turn. since you have counterfeit protection, you can trap one or both of the villains if an A or 3 comes... plus you get 2pr. another advantage is that the str8 came, so only 9Txx on the high side will really be comfortable calling a raise.

i saw huck seed do something similar to this (he didn't have a pair) in the 5000plo8 game (iirc), mentioned it to mute, and he said it was a good play (or at least a reasonable one), so maybe he can comment.

i think i like this play best when you get people playing some loose highs and you might be able to promote your high. that, and the counterfeit protection value. i think you get quartered here quite a bit, but you get half at least 10% of the time, and you might get a big daver present if a 5 comes.

the only reason i might wait until the river is if i knew villain would call down light on the low side with a decent 2-way hand. it looks like SB has the str8, so in this case, it'd depend on the read of UTG. this way you can trap him for more money drawing thin to dead.

i'm also curious about the dynamics of this kind of hand, so i hope others will comment.
wwcrd?

Reads please. Could you blow either of these players off a naked nut low? Is someone bad enough to have a naked str8 here? Are they the types to call a raise with A3?
Rhound - I got 2 outted in a $2000 pot last year, I have also broke a cup in half playing catcher. The feelings were similar.
