Tough 100 NL hand or could I get away

Postby piersmajestyk » Tue May 03, 2005 5:43 pm

100 NL game at Party and the late raiser appeared to be pretty solid with 19% VIP. His preflop raise really suckered me in on the river for the rest of my stack because I didn't put him on a 5 or a set of queens given his lack of a raise on the flop after I led into him. Pretty crafty overall as I donated 160+. After thinking it through I decided to call his overbet on the river. Does anyone get away from this hand on the river? I guess 55 should have crossed my mind as well as being extra leery from his turn call.

I think the only stop where you misplayed this hand is on the river, after my turn bet gets called, I would be starting to think I might be in trouble, the 2 on the turn makes an open ended draw a st8. I would have checked the river here, this would have gotten you to showdown, if he pushs all in its an easy fold, but with the pot size he is more likely going to bet $20 which you can call.

Misplayed the river only, i don't mind leading out but when raised you must drop it. You should be thinking what he is thinking. What is he thinking you may ask? Well. You have fired bet after bet into him after just calling his preflop raise, you can easily hold a 5 in your hand. However, this doesn't stop him from shoving his chips into the middle after you have showed constant agression. He certainly has the straight.
