2/4nl. QQ again (i hate this hand)

Postby Stelvask » Sat May 07, 2005 6:53 pm

opponent is somewhat loose preflop and aggressive. Still, he's more or less a fish. He's a regular at 400nl, and has a losing rate of -16.5BB/100 hands over 2000 hands with him (or would that be -33 BB/100 hands). his reraise is big, and my two initial reads were a possible set, or AsJx - both of which seemed possible. JT definatly isn't out of the question. neither is KsQx

anyone think i should have played this differently?

I assume you won't be a big favorite here no matter what he has, but probably not a big dog either. If he has a pair and a better flush draw, it should basically be 50/50 - if he has 2pr again it's 50/50. If he has KsQx, he should be a small favorite, and if he has a set he's a moderately big favorite. I can't really forsee a situation where you are better than 50/50, and I see no folding equity. I would muck it, but I think it's very close.

And you need to change your name to SuckOutStelvask.

I fold this on flop. I dont want to play a big hand a on monotone flop when I raised preflop with AA-JJ or AK with one of the suits. I am up against a flush or a especially a set too often.

And I dont think you dont have much folding equtiy in this hand. Why does he make this big raise with a player behind him? To protect his hand against a flush.

Brunson says you should play these hands fast. I have lost too many of them. I try to see if I can win the hand on flop or see a cheap turn. If I meet too much resistance I fold.
