Computer Idiot Needs Help

Postby Kowskie » Sun May 08, 2005 8:43 am

I have a 4 year old Compaq with 128 MB of RAM. I often have trouble 4 tabling and using PT and know I need to add more memory. Will 256 be enought or would 512 be better. I see you can buy memory online from Compaq. Would this work, in other words would I be able to load it myself.
Also, I have no idea what a graphics card is or does, but would I also need an upgrade in this area. I want to be able to 4 table, use PT and GT+.
Thanks for any help.

512 would be better. Thats what I have and Ive never had a problem.
You can put it in yourself very easily. It takes about a minute or 2.
I wouldnt worry about the graphics card.

Yeah, don't scrimp and save on computer accessories like memory, it'll just end up being a false economy. Get the best you can afford, after all the difference between 256 and 512 isn't that much, price wise. My two penneth.
