TO RDALE

ok. rdale wrote in the "anything goes" that this section has too few visitors. I sometimes play shorthanded and decided to post this hand here instead of in the NL forum.
Also there was a question in the NL forum on why you raise with suited connectors. I think this hand could be a good example.

It's a 10-handed table. Me and villain just started playing at the table. We played some HU and then some other players joined. I have only played with him in 5 minutes or so. So far he respects my raises and he hasn't done anything a "calling station" would do. I have $409, he has $406. I have been aggressive and hasn't shown down any hands.

Ok the hand. $400nI. I raise to $12 in CU with [6h][5h]. We are 5-handed. Only caller is villain in SB.

The flop is [9h][6s][3h]. I bet $20 and he calls. Turn is [4c]. He check and I bet $50 into $66 pot. He miniraise to $100. Call flop, checkraise turn minimum = set. I call.

River is [2h] completing the flush and making four to a straight. Villain checks. He has $274 left - $266 in the pot. How much should I bet? And how is my play on turn? If villain had made a real raise (as he should have) to $150-200 it wouldn't have been fun for me.

2/3 of his stack is my bet. I seem to have good luck with getting a push or a crying call against good players with this bet. If he has a bigger flush and just outplayed me so be it, that is the danger of playing 65s and making your flush. If he was going to check it down to the scare card he will fold to probably any bet that is reasonable to the pot, 2/3 seems to get the action I want more than all in, as it looks like a steal, and if they are worth their salt they aren't just calling here.

Wouldn't this hand be so much better to play if you made the straight instead of the flush? I think your turn smooth call is fine, but the heart is going to scare him :( You might not be able to get any more out this hand.

I dont know if it would be better to make the straight. I think four to a straight is more scary than three to a flush. As I played it I think my opponent put me on an overpair.
I bet $150 on river an he instacalled with 44. I think I should have pushed.
