Another flop a set hand, insanity ensues, fold river - WTF?

Postby MTPaid » Thu Mar 01, 2007 9:27 pm

[8h][8d] UTG+1. Just one orbit in so no reads.

EDITED with real pot sizes and missed calls now that I've finally looked at the hand in PT instead of doing it mostly from memory.

UTG limps, I limp, CO limps, Button limps, SB calls

[8c][9c][2s] Pot 6 SB
BB bets, I raise, CO calls 2, Button 3-bets, SB calls 3, BB caps, all call

[Jc] Pot HUGE 13 BB
SB checks, BB bets, I call, CO raises, Button calls, BB calls, I call

[Ah] Pot TREMENDOUS 21 BB
BB bets, I call, CO raises, Button 3-bets, BB caps, I fold a set???

Am I sick?........hold on, just flopped my 2nd set in BB vs steal attemp....and lost to BD flush (Q7s)...anyway.....

I know it's a set and a GARGANTUAN but anyone actually call the cap here on the river?

What was wrong with the limp? I posted while I was still playing so I forgot to mention UTG folded on the flop, but doesn't his limp justify mine? If it gets raised behind me we are going at least 3 to the flop and probably 4. Table in general was very loose so far which I didn't mention, but I just didn't have specific reads on any single player yet. I also didn't realize that SB cold-called a 3-bet on the Flop before folding turn. The pot was actually even bigger. Afterwards I have
BB 24/11/28 - 200+ hands
CO 59/0/33 - 75 hands
Button 46/5/28 - 75 hands

That doesn't change the river I guess though. It's just soooo hard to fold a set when it's 22 BB out there to call the 1st river bet, 2BB to call to win 29 BB when it gets back around again. Just your typical flush [Tc][4c] vs set [2d][2c] vs flush [Ac][3c] vs set (me) hand.

Yes, 6-max I raise too. Didn't mention, but this was full ring.

BB had the smaller flush. CO won.

I never said I called. I folded and cried a bit.

I edited the hand to put in the SB cold call of 3-bets on the flop, add the pot size on each street, and it was the Button that actually 3-bet the flop with his set of 2's not the CO with the nut flush draw.

Sick! I would have won maybe the biggest 1/2 pot ever if that board paired on the end. Obviously not with a 2 though.

MT, I wouldnt have even made the first call on the river. On the turn you know you are beat and are drawing to hopefully fill up. When the river comes a brick for you this is an easy fold. Regardless of pot size. You are in a sandwich and know that the people behind you uvae been raising. What can you beat here?
