AK 3 way...

Postby MVPSPORTS » Thu May 19, 2005 1:30 am

Playing on Jetset poker, which is where all the people who apparently are too wild and crazy at Party get sent to... If you've ever played NL live in a casino, these are where they practice (the $25 PF raise at a 1/2 gets 5 callers.. that kinda thing)...

UTG and me have about $350, MP has $150... I'm on the button w/ [Ad] [Kd] ... UTG raises to $15 (he must have a low pair or something to be raising so weak.. :D )... MP calls... I go along for the ride...

Flop: [Ac] [2d] [7s] ... There's about $60 in the pot... UTG bets $30... MP raises to $60 (the dreaded min-raise)... Hell, I got TPTK, and I've seen these idiots play A5 this way... I call... UTG thinks for a second, and goes all-in for $350... MP insta-calls the allin...

Comes back around to me... I'm trying to figure out what the hell these guys have... No way they have trips... There's a "have to slowplay sets" sign over the doors to their bedrooms... No straight draws... No flush draws... I'm afraid of A2, but think it's just as likely at least one of them has Asomething, and the other could have pocket Jacks for all I know (like I said, these guys are nuts, and apparently have MUCH more disposable income than I do)...

Finally, after wasting all my time, I call... UTG has AK also... MP, who instacalled, had AQ and of course hit his Q on the river...

Now, I know he was only drawing to 3 outs, and hit his lucky card, but would you guys have played this any different...?

Would anyone have called a 3way allin w/ TPTK???

No way I'm calling. But then I haven't played JetSet.

What are you afraid of there...? There's an ace on the board and an ace in my hand, and a call, so that's probaby 3 aces out... Any pocket pair, except 2s or 7s, and I'm ahead... Like I said, these people DEFINITELY slowplay their trips... I was really only afraid of A2... I was up $250... I don't think it was that bad of a call, with a chance to more than double up...

Let me change the scenario... same preflop, but you have KK or AA... flop Q72... someone pushes... do you call?

The way you describe the table, I think you played it completely correctly. But it's so insane that it's almost one of those "you have to have been there" to know for sure. I think the results, painful as they are, vindicate your decisions, actually--normally, AQ is just the dead money here, and you split his stack with the other AK. Given cards and action, it was clearly +EV for you.
