Ais... I couldn't agree more... I'm about the tightest player you'll see (especially at B&M), and it's amazing how many calls I get when I have the nuts... I will, in a general B&M game, play a couple hands an hour, and maybe one to showdown... And, they still call my $25 PF raises when I got Aces...

The funny thing is, at a lot of B&M games, if you just talk a little, you can get almost anyone to show you what they were playing almost every hand... Figure out which ones are playing Kanything and Aanything, and you clean up when your AK outkicks em...

The tricky part is keeping up your discipline to stay as tight when you see everyone else havin fun throwin chips back and forth to each other... That's why I ask when I sit down if anyone knows any cool chip tricks... It may sound dumb, but it occupies my time a little between hands and watchin other people play, and it makes you look like a doofus.... BTW I learned about 6 new tricks in Costa RIca...

Aisthesis, Ive been playing 16% of my hands for 3 years now and still getting people to call 6BB raises after Ive folded for an hour.

They want to call you. They dont want to fold once they get money in the pot.

If you hear someone say "hes been folding for an hour, Im not calling that raise". Then wait for the right spot and raise to $20 with 76s. If you get called and have to give it up on the flop, show your cards and say "I was just goofing around"

If nobody calls you and you take the blinds, throw your cards to the muck face up and say nothing.

Yeah, this one guy, whom I cleaned out the other day when he was short-stacked, is starting to get irritatingly sarcastic about my not missing any blinds (I'll take my smoke-break after UTG, then come back in on the button--but, hey, $5 is already 1 BB/100 difference in my win rate).

But you're totally right about showing hands--a mistake I sometimes make myself but am beginning to break this bad habit. I LIKE having a tight table image, and when I feel like it's pretty solidified, the more perceptive regulars are going to get hit with my semi-bluffs.

Chip tricks idea is sweet. I joke around a lot between hands while observing, but I really can't project much of the doofus image. When I play a hand, it's pretty obvious that I'm just surgically precise--at least by their standards. But they call anyway!!! :)

They let you skip the blinds like that? The live games Ive played will let you play your 1st hand from anywhere w/o posting, but they wont let you miss the blinds. If you miss, you have to post to come back in.

True here, too, unless you wait until the BB hits you.

My habit: Play for an hour or so, including all free hands. Then go for a smoke break for a full round until BB would hit me again. Then, I don't have to pay anything extra. Did make an exception (to no avail) once last night when a really horrible player was there and I could come back in (with posting) in LP. Didn't want to miss a full orbit with that guy at the table (all-in river bluffs!!!).

Yeah, that doesn't make any sense... Sorry but if I have to take a leak, I have to take a leak... and as long as you either a. buy your way back in or b. wait till you're the bb again... the guy can go piss off... If you really irritate him enough, he's willing to play less than premium hands just to "get you", which is definitely +EV in my book...

Yeah, I'm sure it isn't going to be the last enemy I make, but if they're going to play like fools, I'm just going to stick with my strategy...

All I've really been doing is just accurately representing my hands, as far as I can tell. Nothin' tricky or sophisticated there... They're the ones who want to constantly slowplay their big pairs, then bitch about having them outdrawn.
