KK FOLD...?

Postby MVPSPORTS » Sat May 21, 2005 2:19 am

The weirdest thing... I just started playing Interpoker tonight, and in the first 15 minutes, I got AA once and KK twice, and lost them all against a straight, a flush, both hit on the river, and this...

Pretty sure the river fold was a good idea, but should I have slowed down on the turn...?

there's not a whole lot of options here. the only thing i would have done different would have been a bigger turn bet.

There's not a whole lot of hands on that turn that are likely to have you beat after he called your raise preflop. A6 seems unlikely, leaving 99 as the scariest holding he could logically have here. That being said, his call looks like a flush draw, maybe a mid pair. with $30 in the pot, you should be betting closer to $25.

Either way, if he doesn't have the flush, he's got big balls. without having seen him make this kind of bet before there's no way you can call him - you just have to take the $30 loss. he made a bad call chasing a flush on a paired flop to a pot sized bet, and got lucky on the river.

Bottom line, until he's giving you reason to suspect that he makes this move without a made hand, you can't call. good fold.

The reason I didn't bet more on the turn is that, the longer I stayed in the hand, the more I felt, the opposite of what you said, that I couldn't figure out what he was playing that I still beat...

If he had pocket Qs, 10s, or 9s, he hit his boat... Any 6 and I'm beat... The flush was out there... Pocket Aces and I'm beat... What do I really beat here but Js or AK...

I hadn't been at the table for very long, and had no real read, other than I had had AA and 2 KKs cracked already...

Sucks, but I guess I had to fold...
