Would you call the flop bet here

Postby piersmajestyk » Sat May 21, 2005 10:27 pm

Guy in the BB is very loose (VIP70%, PR 30%) and is not afraid to throw some chips around on a bluff. His very small flop bet enticed me to take one off for the gut shot and the back door flush draw. I get lucky and hit my gutter shot. Do you guys take one off here with a loosy goosy player making that smallish flop bet?

Definitely, your hand is so well hidden that he will probably push with a set or worse if you hit. I love gutshots versus bad players b/c they always pay off with their whole stack. I read your journal every now and then, since when did you move up to 5/10 NL? Very Nice Hand.

I jump around quite a bit in a variety of games. I don't play the 510 NL game very often but joined because there were some soft spots and short stacks with only a couple of solid players in the line up.

If you wouldn't have hit on the turn, would you call another bet on the turn? I kind of like your line here, especially b/c you got paid off big time; however, I think I'd like your line a lot more if I knew your plan for the whole hand. What different situations COULD you be in and how would you handle them?

No I don't call an additional turn bet unless it was miniscule. I wouldn't have considered calling the flop bet if he had bet even about 50.
