Did I fold the weiner?

Postby DaHitDogg » Mon May 23, 2005 11:56 pm

Limited read on villian. After only 20+ hands he was rated as a sLAG, but had only shown down one hand or so. My raise w/ KJo is a little suspect, but I was really focusing on trying to raise more in position today.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

saw flop|saw showdown

BB ($153.25)
UTG ($162.55)
UTG+1 ($99)
UTG+2 ($217.6)
MP1 ($94.5)
MP2 ($90.5)
MP3 ($90.25)
CO ($101.3)
DaHitDogg ($102.9)
SB ($102.9)

Preflop: DaHitDogg is Button with [Jc], [Kh]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $1, 1 fold, MP1 calls $1, MP2 calls $1, 2 folds, DaHitDogg raises to $4, 2 folds, UTG+1 calls $3, MP1 folds, MP2 calls $3.

Flop: ($14.50) [9d], [Js], [Ks] (3 players)
UTG+1 checks, MP2 checks, DaHitDogg bets $12, UTG+1 raises to $30, MP2 folds, DaHitDogg folds.

At first I thought I was making a noble fold, but the more I thought about this the more I don't like it. KJo sucks and its not a hand I'm going to take a lot of heat with, but flopping top two is pretty strong. Let's think about what beats me. A set of Kings is unlikely as he had the perfect limp reraise scenario and passed. A set of Jacks would have open raised preflop most likely. A set of nines is possible, but with that board you would think he would have led. QT is possible since he was semi loose, but is this really something a sLAG would call with UTG+1? I think KQ (possibly suited) is the most likely candidate for a check raise here. AK is possible too, although he probably would have raised PF as well. Does anybody re-re here?

Tough one. He most likely thinks you have AK and it looks like he can beat that.

I would be alot more willing to play for my stack if you werent the raiser. 99 is the only probable hand that beats you. I think its 50/50 whether he has that or not.

He could have something like [As][9s]. If youve ever seen him push a draw, I would push all in, otherwise I think I fold.

I'm pushing in there from your spot simply because he cant put you on top 2 and he could easily have K9 or J9. If he has 99 or Q10 then I have outs to fill up sitll.
