2 Hands, A few Questions

Postby DaHitDogg » Tue May 24, 2005 12:32 am

Apologies for the long, multi-hand post.

First hand: No read on the villian and I was very distracted by a big pot during the preflop portion of this hand. I probably should have reraised with my AKs to define villians hand a little better.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

saw flop|saw showdown

BB ($96)
UTG ($120.3)
UTG+1 ($252.16)
UTG+2 ($77)
MP1 ($193.65)
MP2 ($122.6)
MP3 ($184.23)
CO ($105.05)
DaHitDogg ($103.65)
SB ($81.8)

Preflop: DaHitDogg is Button with [Kh], [Ah]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
5 folds, MP3 calls $1, CO raises to $5, DaHitDogg calls $5, SB (poster) calls $4.50, 1 fold, MP3 folds.

Flop: ($17) [7d], [Th], [8h] (3 players)
SB checks, CO bets $12, DaHitDogg raises to $32, SB folds, CO calls $20.

Turn: ($81) [Jd] (2 players)
CO checks, DaHitDogg checks.

River: ($81) [3d] (2 players)
CO checks, DaHitDogg checks.

Final Pot: $81

Results in white below:
CO has Tc Jc (two pair, jacks and tens).
DaHitDogg has Kh Ah (high card, ace).
Outcome: CO wins $81.

With two overs and a flush draw my raise here is fairly standard here right? Should the amount have been any different? Or shoud I have called and tried to bring SB along for the ride?

Hand #2:

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed)

saw flop|saw showdown

Button ($91.05)
SB ($100.9)
BB ($126.45)

Preflop: DaHitDogg is MP3 with [Td], [Jd]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
UTG calls $1, 1 fold, MP1 calls $1, MP2 calls $1, DaHitDogg calls $1, CO raises to $4, 3 folds, UTG calls $3, MP1 calls $3, MP2 calls $3, DaHitDogg calls $3.

Flop: ($21.50) [5h], [4s], [Tc] (5 players)
UTG checks, MP1 checks, MP2 checks, DaHitDogg checks, CO checks.

Turn: ($21.50) [3c] (5 players)
UTG bets $5, MP1 calls $5, MP2 folds, DaHitDogg raises to $20, CO folds, UTG calls $15, MP1 calls $15.

River: ($81.50) [6c] (3 players)
UTG checks, MP1 calls $84.18 (All-In), DaHitDogg folds, UTG calls $84.18.

Final Pot: $249.86

Results in white below:
UTG has 9c 7c (flush, ten high).
MP1 has Ah 7s (straight, seven high).
Outcome: UTG wins $249.86.

Should I have bet the flop? I really didn't feel that good about my hand until after it checked around since the PF raiser was behind me. Should I have raised more on the turn?

I would've played both hands the exact same way.

I know you lost both hands but you'll win a ton more than you lose. You had the odds in both situations and unfortunately it didnt work out. There really is no other way to beat complete morons who will call a 3x reraise on the turn for a gutshot considering they could be drawing dead. Senseless...

Anyways, I think your play is fine.

On hand #2 I probably would have bet into the preflop raiser to see where I stand.
If he comes over top of me I figure i'm beat with an overpair or maybe even a jack wtih better kicker.
