No Limit Challenge, first few sessions

Postby grouchie » Tue May 24, 2005 12:00 pm

When reviewing the session, not a whole lot of hands stood out. Lots of limping then folding on horrible flops. 1 bad beat, 1 tilted hand, and one or two sets that kept me realitively even so far in the challenge.
Hopefully next time I will have at least an interesting hand to post. On to the show.

If there are any other PT stats that you want to see in these posts, please let me know and I will start posting them.

Question on Mid Pocket Pairs.
This hand worked out perfect for me, though I am unsure how to act in the situation normally.
With me having the short stack (i know, no reason to have a short stack, rebuy when you get low), Do you still limp in middle position fearing the raise, fold fearing a re-raise, or raise trying to take control of the hand? I'm not sure how to play this situation even though I realize I should not be in it to begin with.

For some reason I thought this guy was just trying to steal my pot, that is until 5 seconds after I hit the "raise" button and then realized that his horrible mini raise after so many limpers most likely meant a misplayed AA or KK.

I haven't made many horrible mistakes like I did on this hand, but I know that poor play like this is the result of the downswing I am on. When I look through my sessions and see a hand like this, it leads me to believe I need a few days off.

So, with that, next week I will be picking this challenge back up where I left off.

on the turn he must have checked.

and the reason I went all in was to get rid of any chasing a flush draw honestly.
on the flop his .25 bet andthen call seemed to me like he was making a horribly weak blocking bet and then calling trying to hit.

Why he called? i don't know. I think mainly because no one gives a short stack any kind of respect and they always think that the short stack is bluffing. That is my best guess though.

as to what he had. It was eithor K8 or K9, no spades
