Hate how I played this but is there really another way?

I don't have the hand history for this so by memory. Villain is pretty passive and I have never seen him bet big. 50NL on party and I have $65 and villian has about $50.

I'm in the BB with 24s

5 limpers to me and I check.

Flop comes

538 with the 53 to my suit. I have an open ended straight flush draw.

I bet the pot ($3). folds to passive guy in LP who raises to $10. Folds to me. What is your play? Since I've never seen him this aggressive, I put him on a set of 8's. I KNOW he will call an all in or go all in to a raise. Do you push anyway? I ended up just calling to see if I could hit and bust him.

Turn - offsuit T - Pot ($23)

I check, he goes all in for $38

I fold. I know i'm not a favorite to a set but I'm not that much of an underdog on the flop. Was calling the flop and then folding the turn the correct way to play this?

I like it...You're actually a favorite I believe on the flop (might wanna double check that) but still..you're not a big favorite. If you had any folding equity, it would be worth a reraise..but since this guy is a passive calling station...you know he isn't going to fold.

I think that bet is too big to call on the flop.

Playing an open-ended out of position, you might consider checkraising sometimes, also check-calling, and folding.

That flop looks like one that could easily have missed everyone, but with 5 players, people are playing a lot of junk here, I'd assume. I think I'd generally check, then see what happens when it gets back to you.

What can also happen in this situation is that top set makes a small-ish bet to keep people in, then you get a bunch of players calling with overcards. This situation gives you very nice odds for making your hand, and with the straight flush draw, also an all-in checkraise is worth considering--although top set is presumably going to call and is, I'm pretty sure actually favorite (although not huge).

The straight flush draw gets a little tricky when you have to play each street, I think. They can make it unprofitable to make the draw, believe it or not.

I dont care if I think he wont fold or not, I push all in every time. If youre not going to push when someone raises, then dont bet it.

You need to be seen pushing all in with draws now and then if you want you big bets with monsters to get called.

Kenny why do you say there is no fold equity here??? I know the normal play the $50 tables is pretty bad but occasionally people do fold. Even if the fold is only 1 in 4, it is still a factor.
