Humble request for Party hand histories

Postby Schro » Thu May 26, 2005 10:44 am

I haven't been playing / posting as much this month as I decided to take a month off to do some deep research into my database and rethink how I play the game. I've uploaded my PokerTracker database into SQL Server and I've been programming SQL queries non stop for a month now. So far it's been very illuminating and I look forward to tackling June with my new gameplan.

However, I've noticed that my 60k game history is not enough data for some of the queries I've been programming. I've been data-mining every day since I noticed this, but I really could use a 100 or 200k more hands which will take me awhile to acquire.

That said, I am humbly requesting anyone who plays on Party to consider emailing me their hand history file(s). I am mostly looking for 25NL to 200NL, but will take levels above that if you are willing.

I don't have much to offer in return other than my thanks and perhaps some observations I will be posting on this forum as a result of my research. Of course, if you would like my 60k of hands I will gladly email it to you in return.

The easiest method for this would be zipping up the hhdb.mdb in the pokertracker directory. I understand that some will have files that are too big (even zipped) to get under the 10mg email ceiling. If it's under 10mg, send the file to schro555@yahoo.com (zipped obviously), or PM me and maybe we can work something out.

Thanks in advance and good luck at the tables!

Sincerely,

Schro

I beg to differ - if you can show us how to do this and provide sample queries for use by others then you have one hell of a lot to offer. Is SQL server hard to get hold of?

Your best bet might be AP10 as he 8 tables the Party $100's for some ridicuous amount of time/week- the test DB of his that I used for the recent NL autorates is about 120,000 recent hands.

Of course you would have to speak to him...

Not sure how easy/hard SQL Server is to get. I work with it every day on my job and got it from work.

I will certainly be sharing my research over the next few months. Right now I'm trying to go deep into the data and see if I can find some nuggets that are oft overlooked.

One thing I discovered last night was that the oft-quoted phrase, "Hold-em is a game of kickers" is less accurate than most think. I didn't bring the file to work, so I will post my findings later this evening.

Cheers,

Schro
