Am I getting bluffed too much?

Postby briachek » Thu May 26, 2005 11:27 am

Two hands from yesterday's marathon session.

Should I have been able to pick off these bluffs?

Hand 1:

Final Pot: $20.75

Results in white below:
UTG+2 has 4h 4d (flush, jack high).
Outcome: UTG+2 wins $20.75.

I had a set over set situation and all these clubs come out. When he called my raise on the flop, I thought he had something like Ac 9x or something with a club. Good fold? It doesn't take much of a club in his hand to not play the board like me.

Hand 2

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.5 BB (10 handed)

UTG+2 ($42.15)
MP1 ($49.5)
MP2 ($12.34)
MP3 ($40.4)
CO ($48)
Button ($17.85)
SB ($30.45)
BB ($48.25)
Hero ($106.8)
UTG+1 ($66.65)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with [Kh], [Ks]. CO posts a blind of $0.5.
Hero calls $0.50, UTG+1 calls $0.50, 4 folds, CO (poster) checks, Button calls $0.50, 1 fold, BB checks.

Flop: ($2.75) [5d], [7s], [7d] (5 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $2.5, UTG+1 folds, CO calls $2.50, Button folds, BB folds.

Turn: ($7.75) [6h] (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $2, Hero calls $2.

River: ($11.75) [Th] (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $6, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $17.75

Results in white below:
CO has 6s Ts (two pair, tens and sevens).
Outcome: CO wins $17.75.

Limp raise gone wrong. He called on the flop with T high and backdoor flush draw and back door straight draw. He was new to the table. This shows why position is so important.
