Bad play or bad luck???

Postby Rhound50 » Sat May 28, 2005 7:08 pm

This hand was yesterday live 2/3 nl. The villian in question is a weak player, calls way to much. I am in LP with JJ. I have $320 in front of me, he has me covered. I raise to $15 after it folds to me. Get calls from Villian in the SB and BB. Flop is QJ2. It checks to me, I'm not so happy that they both look like they are ready to fold. So I bet $15 hoping to get call. Turn is a 6 or 7 but the second spade. Villlian leads out this time $40, I want to pot commit him, so I min raise to $80, which he calls. River is the 3 of spades. He checks, I bet out $100, he thinks and then pushes all in. I have around $80 left, I have to call. He turns over K4 spades and caught his running spades.

My read on him on the flop was that he had a middle or weak Q, which is why I made the min raise on the turn, hoping that he would think he was getting a good price to draw to his two pair cards. I knew he was a bad player but I didnt think he would call with a backdoor flush draw on the flop. Comments please.

He made a HORRIBLE PF and flop call... led out w/ a pretty big bet w/ a flushdraw... I probably would've gotten a little nervous when the turn showed the second spade, and bet $120 on the turn... Other than that, you're already pot committed the river, and it just sucks that he sucked out on you...

Hope you bought back in and took back your money and then some... Or at least kicked the crap out of him in the parking lot... :D

I really hate loosing hands like this, when I get cute and try to trap. For example with AA/KK in early position, I try to limp-raise but I there's no raise, then someone in the blinds beats me on a 338 flop...

Another example to show how dangerous it is to give cheap cards...
