BAD PUSH...?

Postby MVPSPORTS » Sun May 29, 2005 6:34 pm

Man... I think when I flop 2pr in a blind, I lose the hand like 95% of the time... Should I have figured I was beat...? Should I have bet out the flop...? I knew he was gonna bet the flop, and was gonna checkraise... not sure why I didn't... Seeing his hand though, I don't think it would've made a difference... After I made the push, I kinda had a feeling he had AJ, not A8...

i think you can fold anything except a set or AJ and still feel happy with yourself, it bites but the guy would have to have a serious note as overplaying one pair hands for me to call.

edit:

Oops i thought he pushed into you...

No fine push and unlucky.

re-edit:
I did read the action right... you can lay it down, i must be a muppet today or find that sort hand history impossible to follow :P

Gotta ask yourself..."Why is he making such a big bet on the turn?"

Is this opponent smart enough to semi-bluff you? What hands could he play that way that you beat? It sure looks like he wants a lot of money from you...I fold to his turn bet.

With that being said, I like the push :) .

Wouldn't he make that raise w/ AK,AQ,A10,Aanything of clubs...? I was sure he had an Ace, and wouldn't have called his allin... But, I thought I had some folding equity if he had anything less than 2pr...

If everybody was able to make a living off of their hobbies the world would be a much better place.

I think the pre-flop calls are OK. If it was any more than a min raise, you'd have folded, right?

You should definitely try to get your stack in against a pre-flop raiser with 2 pair, as he'll probably follow you with AK and AQ as well as A8, AJ and AA.

You've spotted the check-call on the flop was a mistake - I definitely agree: not only have you given KQ, KJ, QJ, two clubs etc free suckout chances, but a club or high card makes the board a bit scary, so your opponent might be able to fold.

When you lead into the turn having check-called the flop, you're representing 2 pair or better; so when he raises you're left with a horrid decision (against a decent opponent a fold must be correct here; against a weaker player it's less clear).

If you'd have led the flop and got raised, that could just be a reasonable ace defending a draw-y board, so you can push.

A flop check-raise is probably fine too, though lots of players don't follow through after min raising pre-flop.
