Good call???

Postby MVPSPORTS » Wed Jun 01, 2005 1:13 am

4-tabling... so no real read on anybody... When the flop Q hits and they both call, I think I'm behind to AA or KK... I was gonna check-raise the turn, but pushed the wrong damned button and ended up calling... I decided to bet out when the board paired, trying to scare CO off his big pair... That worked, but then the guy who showed exactly 0 aggression the whole hand raises, making me VERY skeptical... As I was pushing the "call" button, I was expecting to lose to 2pr or something...

The way you played it though I don't think your hand is very well defined. I would have led on the turn and probably let it go there to any aggression but seeing his final holding he probably just calls there. I wish you would have been able to get in the check raise on the turn, then the hands are defined. But on the end, the way you played it, I don't think I would have been to happy about making that call, you check call the turn, lead out for half pot on the river and he comes over the top of you. His bet is saying I can beat top pair, with no read on this guy I don't think I make that call I just think too many time you are not going to see second pair turned over here. Is that too weak tight?

He was just making a move. With no reads I think you should go ahead and fold. The way it played out..looked like a set.

If it were a miniumum raise you were beat for sure :)

Geez... This is like my B&M game...

Honestly, if you're 4-tabling particularly, I'd play this a lot more ABC. First, I don't like your calling the raise with AQ--although, if you do, hitting the Q is about as good as it gets.

So, I'd also prefer a more serious flop bet despite the fact that there are no real draws out there. I just feel like closer to pot-sized gives a lot more clarity as to where you're really at on the flop. While it ends up working out, what I guess you're getting here is JTs drawing to the gutshot/backdoor flush, then somehow getting attached to his T (which to me is still mind-boggling, although it seems very fashionable at the moment). And CO may have thought he was good with JJ or 99.

But I really think, the way these guys are playing, ABC all the way would give you some pretty incredible win rates. I mean, seriously, calling a raise with JTs??? It's absolutely unnecessary as much loose money is being funneled in here. As a result, I also think you're better off also just losing your limp rather than giving AQ a try, which is at least tenable but is always going to be at best difficult short of a miracle flop (imo).
