This is why you dont slow play sets

Postby Rhound50 » Sat Jun 04, 2005 3:01 am

This is a 2/3 nl hand, villian #1, just doubled through me the hand before, calling off his last $80 all in preflop with AJ to bust my QQ, so I'm a little annoyed. Of course the first hand I look at is [Ac] [Kc] utg. I dont want to raise, it looks like I'm tilting and a raise is going to get a whole bunch of callers which, is going to be hard to bluff if I miss the flop. So I limp, villian 1 limps, so do 2 others. Flop is QJ4 with 2 diamnds, I check from UTG, it checks around. Turn brings the money cards for me [10s], I have the nut str8, I weak lead $15, just hoping to get action. Villian 1 raises to $50, villain 2, pushes all in covers the table, villian #3 who has $30 left calls all in. Well hell I have the nuts I call all -in. River is not a good card for me a [Kd]. Villian 1 turns over QQ, oops someone slowplayed their set and got burned, played #2 show K9, one more reason I wont play k9 other than from the blinds. Short stack did have the flush, but I still win a massive side pot. Villian 1 leaves in a huff, villian 2 is cursing me for being a bad player and limping with AK. Moral of this story, dont slow play sets.
