Vocalist has a Rush sound, IMO. Actually, I'd say he could do any Rush cover song ever, yeah, definitely. This song, however, never quite delivers. I can't quite put my finger on what is needed to take it to the next step. Has a good sound and lyrics, but just seems to build and build but no release.
I like "In Disguise" more than the first one, though I find the same problem in terms of building but no release. I mean seriously, it's like you guys don't like orgasm or something.
I'll give you a contrast. Interpol and Guns'n'Roses. GNR always (well, almost always) has some moment(s) of release, were things build to a crescendo, whereas Interpol almost never has that. I like both bands, quite a lot actually, but I think you have to be really good at the non-crescendo stuff to pull it off.
"Cruelest Joke" never really appealed to me.
"Age of Imperials" I like. I think vocalist should carry a few notes a bit longer than he does. He undersells strength of this song.
"A Million Miles" is my favorite of the songs on the playlist. I really like this song. I could listen to it several hundred times and not get tired of it. I think there's a payoff in this song, but maybe I'm just getting used to your sound.
All my comments come from the biased perspective of someone who grew up in the 80's and early 90's so keep that in mind.
