Dealt AQo in the BB. I have $400...both opponents have about the same.

UTG limps. Folded to the button who raises to $14. I have notes on the button. He is a calling AND a betting station. I'm not sure exactly what to call him. I guess a jackal

Anyway..because of these notes..I decide to call with the usually dominated AQ. UTG limper calls (station.)

I check (knowing button will bet with any hand), UTG checks. Button bets $16. I call (no draws...figure i'll let the jackal keep betting). UTG calls.

TURN $92
A82A
I check. UTG checks. Button(jackal) bets $50. I call. UTG folds.

RIVER $192
A82AT
I check. Button bets $100. I call.

How did I play this? Anyone do anything different? I checked all the way knowing he would be putting out bets. Though I did think he would give up on the river.

Given your read, looks fine. Some random thoughts...

Not sure whether it's good for the table image or not (if anyone's paying attention).

If you think he'll give up the river, why not check raise the turn on the offchance he's betting a weaker ace and hits his kicker?

Would you have led a non-A turn? (I'm too wimpy to give away any more free cards)

And presumably you're folding to a huge river bet?

I usually check raise the river all in against this type of yahoo. If he has the boat he beats me, if he has the A weaker kicker I drag a big pot, AK isn't really a concern of mine against calling AND betting stations. Often times they won't believe you have the A and call with 9T JJ or some junk. This player just invested a lot of money, and they already hate folding, they aren't getting away from this hand no matter what you do, and if they do they .

My problem with this type of player is when they hit a running gutshot that causes me to overplay my hand as they are as likely to be beat badly. But the thing is that you are most likely ahead 80% of the time in this situation against these guys, that "gambling" it up for all the money and taking lumps or dragging pots is the best approach.

I agree with you Richardooon, which is why I chose to play the hand this way. I felt if I played back I would have to call...and may be a huge underdog.

It turns out that was correct and he held AK.

Rdale....A couple of months ago I would have raised this river....but I think he's just shown too much strength by betting every street. Also...the only thing calling me is a hand beating me. Maybe AJ or KK...but that would be pretty stupid..even for a betting and calling station
