My first day at NL100.

Postby JJSCOTT2 » Mon Jun 06, 2005 9:10 pm

Wasn't really a day, I only played 171 hands but still, I played it for the first time.

This first hand really got my confidence up proving to myself that yes, people really are just as stupid if not more stupid at the next level up.

Hand 1:

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

UTG+2 ($122.4)
MP1 ($89.95)
Hero ($99)
MP3 ($0)
CO ($94.5)
Button ($148.35)
SB ($36.1)
BB ($199.9)
UTG ($203.9)
UTG+1 ($121.3)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with [Kd], [Kc]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
3 folds, MP1 calls $1, Hero raises to $5, 2 folds, SB (poster) raises to $9.5, 1 fold, MP1 calls $9, Hero raises to $50, SB calls $26.10 (All-In), MP1 calls $40.

Flop: ($137.10) [5c], [Jc], [7c] (4 players, 1 all-in)
MP1 checks, Hero bets $40, MP1 folds.

<<Ok MP1, your hand was good enough for 50 preflop, more than half your stack, but now it's not good enough for 40 into 140? You sir, make no sense.>>

Turn: ($177.10) [6c] (3 players, 1 all-in)

River: ($177.10) [3h] (3 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $177.10

Results in white below:
SB has Qc Ad (flush, queen high).
Hero has Kd Kc (flush, king high).
MP3 doesn't show.
Outcome: Hero wins $177.10.

<<What? Are you serious?>>

Hand 2:

I love folding even when I think I'm ahead, thanks Ice.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

MP3 ($96)
CO ($95.75)
Hero ($175.95)
SB ($39)
BB ($100)
UTG ($144.85)
UTG+1 ($101.7)
UTG+2 ($222.65)
MP1 ($100.4)
MP2 ($137.85)

Preflop: Hero is Button with [Kd], [Ac]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
1 fold, UTG+1 raises to $3, 3 folds, MP3 calls $3, CO calls $3, Hero calls $3, 2 folds.

Flop: ($13.50) [3c], [9d], [Ah] (4 players)
UTG+1 checks, MP3 checks, CO checks, Hero bets $10, UTG+1 calls $10, MP3 folds, CO calls $10.

<<Here's where limping/flat calling AK pays off, any other high ace is gonna pay me off right? Well, maybe not exactly...>>

Turn: ($43.50) [8h] (3 players)
UTG+1 calls $88.70 (All-In), CO calls $82.75 (All-In), Hero folds.

<<Ok, this bet makes no sense, you raised UTG+1, you simply can't have a better hand than me, but that bet is huge, now it's called in front of me, I concede.>>

River: ($214.95) [6d] (2 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: $214.95

Results in white below:
UTG+1 has 9s As (two pair, aces and nines).
CO has Ad Kc (one pair, aces).
Outcome: UTG+1 wins $214.94.

<<It's nice to have been able to do what the CO could not bring himself to do>>

Hand 3:

What I love even more is saving money when I know it's my fault things got so ugly.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

SB ($165.65)
BB ($57.53)
UTG ($112.85)
Hero ($99)
UTG+2 ($75.2)
MP1 ($321.15)
MP2 ($106.65)
MP3 ($12)
CO ($85.45)
Button ($81.45)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with [Ac], [Kd]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
1 fold, Hero calls $1, UTG+2 calls $1, MP1 calls $1, 4 folds, SB (poster) completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($5) [Kc], [Ks], [5d] (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks, UTG+2 checks, MP1 checks.

<<I check with the intention of check-raising, I know I can only get significant action from another king (or 55 for that matter) and that no one is gonna be able to lay down their KJ/KT if I check raise large........that plan soon falls through>>

Turn: ($5) [7c] (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $5, UTG+2 folds, MP1 calls $5, SB folds, BB folds.

<<As soon as the turn comes off, I'm thinking, what have I done, I could have easily just given a free card to 77, but when I get flat called, I think I've found my 4th king.>>

River: ($15) [8h] (2 players)
Hero bets $5, MP1 raises to $15, Hero calls $10.

<<No straights, no flushes, things seem good, but this raise smells fishy. I trust my instincts and flat call>>

Final Pot: $45

Results in white below:
Hero has Ac Kd (three of a kind, kings).
MP1 has 8c 8d (full house, eights full of kings).
Outcome: MP1 wins $45.

Hand 4:

Last hand I promise. Anyone fold this river, for some reason I was pretty sure I was beat, but I generally tend to be a pessimist when it comes to Party Poker.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (9 handed)

CO ($110.18)
Button ($256.75)
SB ($98.65)
Hero ($98.35)
UTG ($95.1)
UTG+1 ($95.45)
MP1 ($390.45)
MP2 ($106.87)
MP3 ($98)

Preflop: Hero is BB with [4c], [2d]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
5 folds, CO calls $1, 2 folds, Hero checks.

Flop: ($2.50) [6s], [3s], [As] (2 players)
Hero checks, CO checks.

Turn: ($2.50) [5c] (2 players)
Hero bets $2, CO raises to $4, Hero calls $2.

River: ($10.50) [8d] (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $10, Hero calls $10.

Final Pot: $30.50

Results in white below:
Hero has 4c 2d (straight, six high).
CO has 4c 2d (straight, six high).
Outcome: CO wins $15.25. Hero wins $15.25.

Overall results. 171 hands, amount won $65.85. I feel pretty good about my first attempt at the NL100, my biggest fear was that I wouldn't be able to handle the dollar amounts or that it would be difficult to multi-table knowing that $400 was on the line at any one time, but I feel pretty good about my ability to play in this level and hope things keep going well.

Congrats, Scott!

I am thinking about moving up to NL$50. If it wasnt because of this bad streak i think I would be there. I am 4 buyins down, That is why I want to have at least 25 buyins before moving. I had it but I took a bite from my BR to get some stuff I wanted!

JJ... those are some pretty good hands... ABC poker usually wins the race...

BTW... you have reason to be suspicious of Party... I think I FINALLY have my evidence of a coverup... in the last hand, you and CO have the same cards... I KNEW there were too many 4c and 2d in the deck... Conspiracy theorists rejoice...

Lately, the converter has really sucked big time...
