2 more $5/$10 hands

Postby iceman5 » Wed Jun 08, 2005 6:18 pm

Im having a really bad streak right now and my judgement is probably skewed. Actually I lost more today than Ive ever lost in my career. It was only a little over 2 buy ins so its no big deal, but it was at $5/$10 so money wise it was my biggest losing day ever.

I cant even seem to win a $1/$2 hand either...UGH!

Hand #1) I raise to $45 with KK. I get called once.
Pot $105. Flop comes T73 with 2 diamonds. I bet $80 and he min raises me. Yuck. We all know how I feel about minimum raises. This guy seems a ittle fishy though so I call.

Pot $425. The turn is another rag diamond. A 2 I think. I check and he bets $160. (Idont have the Kd). Whats your plan from here? I started with $1000 and he has me covered.

Hand #2) I raise to $40 with KK. Mofflowis calls me from the SB. He will rarely call a raise w/o a pair.

Pot is $90. The flop comes T84. He leads out for $80. We all know a good player will lead out with a set, but he could also lead with JJ or QQ. Im very sure that one of us has only 2 outs, but which one of us?

Do you raise? Or try to keep the pot small and call him down or what?

Hand 1: I usualy fold these. When I get min raised on a 2 flush board I usually suspect he is raising to get a flush card. He bets 160 in a 425 pot (2/5), I would be afraid that he's trying to milk me and would fold. If you decide to call here, you have to probably face a bet of at least 400 on the river. I would like a reraise on the flop.

Hand 2: Very tough situation. If you just call and don't raise the flop, it will be much more expensive on later streets to define his hand. For this reason I would min raise. If he checks the turn I would check, and call half pot or so on the river.

If the other situations occur (reraise on the flop, or strong bet on the turn), I would need to know more about the player to make a decision. I would probably tend to fold to a reraise, or to a bet more than half the pot on the turn.

Looking forward to learn from replies of people who play at these stakes.

You need to start folding KK preflop more often.

I raise to $200 in hand 2 and be done with it if he calls. I assume Mofflowis is a good player (from the way you talk about him) and I assume he also knows you are a solid and tight player.

Hand 1 why didn't you re-raise the flop if you felt like you were ahead? Make it, say, $450?
