So I still bet the turn???

Postby Zuccala » Sat Sep 08, 2007 10:42 am

Hey Guys,

$20FR (Cake Poker)

I have $55 (OTB)

Villan $18 in EP

I get dealt [Ad][Ah] OTB and raise to $1.20 after a few limpers and only the Villan calls

flop:[Ks][5s][6h] $3.20 (2 Players)

Villan bets .20 (hes drawing), I raise to $3.80, he calls

turn: [9h] $10.80

Villan Checks, Hero????

Do I still make this bet ($8.50)? I mean that mini bet on the flop is OBVIOUSLY a Draw and he made a huge mistake calling my flop raise. So should I check behind? Which of the 2 draws should I worry about more? I am asking this because I bet and he went all in and I had to call getting like 6-1 (maybe 2 pair type hand or worse). He showed me [8c][7c] and I was dead. However, I think I made the right decison and worried more about the FD than than the SD as they are more likley with the way most donks play. Am I right? Did I play ok? I just would have fely WEIRD checking the turn with a FD out!
2008 Goals:

1. Make $40K by year end.
2. Play at least 100hrs a month.
3. Read 5-10 new Poker Books w/ notes.
4. Become regular at $2/$4 FR
5. Try some $5/$10 FR
6. Work on Game non-stop.

You have to bet here if you think he is drawing. The more likely draw is obviously the flush draw simply because it has more outs than a straight draw. But when you account for every single card that makes up for a flush or any kind of straight on the board, you could theoretically make a case for 1/2 the deck being the scare card.

I think that the possiblity that you're checking behind, giving a free card to someone that is still drawing, is probably more often than this is his card.
