The 30gb is an old model. 80gb and 160gb are the new standard iPods, they can hold video in addition to audio. You will likely never need all that space, but like I said not only are they not making the 30gb anymore (I believe), but it won't play video. Splurge on the 80gb.

Nanos are great too because they're TINY. Perfect for bringing to a poker table since it'll fit in any pocket easily. An 8gb Nano can hold somewhere near 2000 songs, and the new Nanos play video (the old ones don't).

I have a classic 30gb that stays in the car and a Nano that comes with me to poker tables, the gym, etc.

Just filled up my 30 gig. Don't get either from the store as they are both a rip off. If you must at least wait for the 80 gig. Also apple just lowered their prices quite a bit, the 80 gig is only 249 bucks and they have a 160 gig for 349. The one on full tilt is probably the older version. IMO just get lots of t-shirts from the store as they rock out.

Oh and the 80 gig holds 20K songs and the 160 holds 40K so for most people the 80 gig is enough for a lifetime.

The 30 gig does hold videos. The old 20 gig didn't.

The 30GB ones is a gen 5 ipod and the 80GB would have to be a gen 6 model. I'm guessing there is little difference in price to cover the cost that they paid for them and isn't representative to current market value of the older device.

From apple's website, they say the 30GB is about 7k songs and the 80GB is about 20k songs. If you are only gonna put music on it, then 30 would probably be enough but if you are gonna put video on there, I would go for the larger one. There are also some new wizbang type features to the gen 6 model.
