NL50 - 78s in MP .. pinch, call, fold?

Postby RedBarracuda » Sun Sep 16, 2007 7:37 am

I am not really sure if this qualifies for the not interesting hand thread so I am posting it here..

Pacific Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.25/$0.5
6 players

Stack sizes:

UTG: $66.47
SuperHero: $63.25
CO: $54.1
Button: $40.42
SB: $53.19
BB: $22.2

Pre-flop: (6 players) SuperHero is UTG+1 with [8c] [7c]
UTG folds, SuperHero raises to $2, CO calls, 2 folds, BB calls.

Flop: [6s] [Qh] [9d] ($6.25, 3 players)
BB checks, SuperHero bets $3.5, CO raises to $10, BB raises all-in $20.2, SuperHero ?

I would appreciate the thoughts on the hand so far, and a suggestion for further action.

I raised this hand from MP because I think it's a raiseable hand there and especially because I was getting crappy hands at this particular table so I wanted to put $ in pot a bit more in order to show the table I am not sleeping and waiting for AA and to generate more action later (I was hoping to catch a few more SC's or something similar to raise them to show them I am actually playing).

BB in this hand is a bad LAG whom I have been milking slowly on other tables. He is not a complete idiot, but is faaar from solid player IMHO.

The CO is the real mystery here for me.. This is his 4th hand at the table and so far he won his BB hand when he flopped 2 pair with Q8s and slowplayed flop. I am pretty sure that he has a hand that is pretty strong now given his immediate raise on flop, or maybe he perceives my bet as weak. Still,I am more inclined to think it's a strong hand he holds, probably KQ+ or a set.

Why I bet $3.50 on flop? Because I was in the middle and this is a bet I make against 2 players when there are no too obvious draws out there or when I am the on holding it against the opposition. Against 2 players I have found (at Pacific at least) that a bit over 1/2 pot takes it down often enough when I am the PFR.

This probably becomes purely mathematical question when the action comes back to me but none the less, I would appreciate some advice on the hand.

if CO folds to your shove you should end about breakeven.
If he calls you are even in worse shape

Sem,

Why would you check this flop?
Boy, you got me confused with a man who repeats himself.

I should clarify that I felt the small flop bet was bad to begin with.

I think my post explains why I might check this flop, I would bet it at higher stakes or vs better opponents.

At NL50 on pacific I think check > solid bet > weak bet

In short I don't think you get two opponents to fold often enough to make the flop bet profitable in this particular game.

Maybe youve been finding that small bet sizes have been working out lately, but if you want to progress you need to rectify this.

Either bet the flop like you've got AQ ie $5, or not at all.

When I play a patient and relaxed game I win - that simple.
