1) I limp KK..2 limpers..BB goes all in $100. I call and he has AJ....he wins

2) I raise to $8 QQ. 2 callers..Flop QT4..I bet $20...one guy goes all in $180. I call..he has J9 and hits his str8

3) I raise $10 KK. 2 callers. Flop T94. I bet $40 to put a guy all in. He calls with KQ and hits a J for his gutshot

4) I limp TT..BB min raises. I reraise to $22. He calls. Flop KT2 with flush draw. he bets $2 and I raise to $40. He calls. Turn 3rd spade. He bets $4..I raise to $40. He goes all in with his flush and I miss

5) I call a $8 raise with 77. 1 more caller. Flop AQ7. Preflop raiser bets $20. I push in for $200. He calls with AQ and wins when an ace falls.

6) UTG min raises. I call with 77. Flop AK7. He bets $10 and I call. Turn J. He bets $20 and I push all in for $180. He calls with AJ and rivers an ace.

There are 6 more of these from today and this is one day after my biggest loss money wise in my career. Someone say something warm and fuzzzy to me while I go buy a new mouse.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the $400NL table I opened and played for 70 hands and didnt win one. That was fun.

Teddy bears and lacy pillows surrounding the long blond hair of a sleeping woman.

Those are some painfull losses.
Might I suggest taking a break from the tables, and maybe going for a moonlit stroll by a lake somewhere? Take a bottle of wine and a friend/wife/companion/date, and just look at the stars.

That was warm and fuzzy.

You can play damn good poker, and you will again.
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

Ice-

Thats an ugly business, my friend. But theres always a bright side right?

1) You have a real job
2) you arent english
3) Youve been laid (by an animate object) in the last 3 months (im assuming)

So one way or the other, youre pretty much the one who owes the members aorund here a warm fuzzy comment.

GOD! Your so insensitive sometimes!

It's all been said, but the bright side is you're playing fantastic poker, of all the times you got all the money, you were only behind once, and even than had a ton of outs. You know how positive a situation this is.

I really hate bad beat stories which is why we dont have a bad beat section here at BTP. I almost never post about bad beats, but these that I posted here are only the most recent bunch that Ive received in the past 3 weeks.

It took me about 50 of these to finally break down and post something. What Im getting at is that this is the worst stretch of bad beats Ive ever seen and it just wont stop.

Ive totally lost my compsure to the point that I almost got my chat revoked last night.

Also, Im making a few really bad plays each session because of the complete frustration of these incredible never ending beats.

I pushed in yesterday with 2 pair when I knew damn well the guy had flopped a str8. Today I called a raise with AK. The flop was QJT and I check raised him right off whatever he was holding. Stupid stupid stupid, but I just knew he would catch a backdoor flush or something.

Ive never been closer to quitting altogether than I am right now. I know I wont, but Im at a loss as to what to do. I also know that I'll look back in a couple months and realize that times like this make me a better player, but when i watch these fish continue to win with junk and my sets and str8 wont hold up it makes me crazy.

Probably the best thing you can do for you sanity and your bankroll is to take a step back and not play for a few days. I mostly play low limit and when I hit one of these extended streaks (I'm sure my streaks are much smaller than you b/c I don't play everyday) I'll switch games for awhile and only play SNGs for a week or omaha.

As a last resort if I'm running REALLY bad, I'll fire up the old PS2, throw in Rocky, and commence to whippin' some serious arse! Apollo Creed, you got nothin' biatch!!!!

Yup. Everyones got thier way of dealin with crap like this.

My favorite way to refocus myself is go downto the local B&M and play there...One table, full ring (i play SH multi table usually), slow down a bit, regain some patience and focus, and try to make a good time of it also (the place i go around here has some good folks in it, and also a very loose game). Its a good change of atmosphere, and also a good opportunity to slow down from the frenzied pace of 4 tabling and do some thinkin about the game, or about whatever. A good B&M game is almost therapeutic in my opinion, for a player that does almost all of his playing online. Sittin at a live table where people are gamlbin it up and havin a time always makes me feel much less bitterness towards the game in general, even when the cards have been kickin me in the nuts over and over lately.

The worst part of it is that you really start second guessing your abilities. Ive only had this happen once before and that was 2 years ago. I lost a big chunk and really had to re-evaulate my play and it eventually ended up being a blessing in disguise.

The wierd thing is that Im only down like 3 1/2 buy ins.

But I lost 2 1/2 buy ins playing $5/$10
Then won 3 buy ins at $1/$2
Then lost 3 buy ins at $1/$2
Then today I lost a little over a buy in.

But the outdraws in every big pot combined with some dumb calls and dumb folds on my part is killing me.

Heres a hand....I had KT in the SB. Flop KJT. I bet pot and UTG min raises me. DUH!!!! "He has you beat you moron" . I call. He overbets the turn and I think...Hmmm..He might have AK and be afraid of all the draws (there was a flush draw also). So I push all in. Damn was that dumb. He has AQ. i shouldve folded to the min raise like I always talk about. It looks weak, but its the right play 90% of the time.

Heres another one. I have KQ and limp in LP after a couple limpers. Flop Kxx with flush draw. Checked to me and I bet pot. SB and UTG call.

Turn is a blank. Checked to me. I bet 3/4 pot. SB folds but then UTG check raises all in. DUH!! He has a set!!! I call. Bad luck breeds bad play.

What brought on that bad call was this play. I raise to $10 with AA. 2 callers. Flop is JJ6. Blah.
I check. Guy bets $25 and the other guy calls. I fold. They fight it out all the way to the river and get all in with 99 and KK.

No matter what I do right now, its wrong. When I do get it all in with the best hand I get outdrawn. My poker judgement is really bad right now.

On a better note, I just booked my week long trip to Hawaii to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We are staying in a $500/night resort.....So to all the fish who are paying for this bitch of a vacation, I say "F - YOU"

As you said Ice, these strings of bad beats make you want to flip the table over, punch a wall or whatever your stress realease is, but as you said it makes you a better player in the long run. When you look a the top pro's, it is always amazing to me how well they take bad beats. Howard Lederer getting his set busted but Doyles rived flush in the WSOP, and what does he do? He calmly gets up says nice hand, and walks away. Me i would have done all I could not to complely lose it. The difference is, for his this is just business as usual, he has had it happen a million times, and it will happen again.

One thing that struck me when, I was reading AlexMR's posts about his recent losing streak, was that I knew exactly how he fekt ,we have all been there. The thing is the more it happens to me over time the better I react to it. Ice this will be the same with you, not that you need to learn how to take bad beats, but you will look back at this run in 2 months and you will grow as a poker player from it. And yes that is a god awfull run of luck.
