Like Kenny says unless you have a good read on this guy as being a LAG your best option here would be to fold and move on. Maybe a reraise preflop would have given you more options on the flop as you could have possibly narrowed his potential hands down. Raising 4x BB UTG indicates to me a decent PP or maybe AKs.....a reraise by you would maybe have confirmed these suspicions......either way i still think the fold is the best option.....there will be plenty more opportunities of taking this guys money if he turns out to be a muppet!!!!!

i agree and i folded, and he unfortunately showed me AT no pair no draw. just wanted to confirm my reasoning.

First hand makes it tough if you have never played him before... I let it go too in this spot probably about 80% of the time and the rest of the time get my money all in and assume that I'm probably gambling with the best hand. Checking behind isn't a horrible play when you are unsure. I know it is passive but sometimes I want a free card with an over pair when I'm confused, as it may make a turn decision easier or you can get a favorable low card like a 2.
