NFL Week 5

Postby SebQtaneus » Mon Oct 01, 2007 10:49 pm

The really really early lines. (as of end of MNF week 4) & my initial thoughts

Miami at Houston------ Texans by 6 ------ Hello 0-5 Dolphins. Any doubters?

Atlanta at Tennessee------ Titans by 8.5 ------ Has Atlanta finally begun to gel? Doubt it. Go Titans.

Jacksonville at Kansas City------ Jaguars by 2 ------ KC's defense seems to be fairly reliable. Not sure I see the Jags beating them at home.

New York Jets at New York Giants------ Giants by 3.5 ------ LOL@Home Filed advantage here. Giants in a walk.

Carolina at New Orleans------ no line yet ------ New Orleans ranks in the bottom half of the entire league both offensively and defensively except for passing yards on offense in which they rank 16th. And they are now RELYING SOLELY on Reggie bush for their running game. But as bad as all that, I'm not so sure they are going to hit 0 - 5 at home against a Carolina team that doesn't rank a whole lot better. Like last week, if Delhomme plays I think the Panthers win. If he doesn't, they don't.

Arizona at St. Louis------ no line yet ------ Cardinals beat the Steelers, soooooooooo, They are who they thought they were! LOL. Rams are going 0 - 5 at home. Arizona ranks in the top half of the league in all the major categories if you can believe it. If Arizona could handle the Steeler running game they can sure as hell handle the Rams even if Steven Jackson comes back with a sore groin.

Cleveland at New England------ no line yet ------- Who needs to even think about this one? Patriots. Period.
I am sooooo glad Dallas has Cleveland's 1st round pick next spring. TY Brady Quinn. Jerry Jones might be a decent poker player with 2nd and 3rd level thinking like that.

Seattle at Pittsburgh------ Steelers by 6 ------ Unfortunately for the Seahawks, any hope they had of beating the Steelers in Pittsburgh (or anywhere else) went out the window when the Steelers got a wake up call in the desert this past week. Steelers win easily.

Detroit at Washington------ Redskins by 3.5 ------ This "should" be an interesting game. Unfortunately, Philly stomped the Lions and I think the Redskins will too. But damn I like that Detroit passing game!

Tampa Bay at Indianapolis------ Colts by 10.5 ------ Colts win. That's just what they do. Too bad for an improving Tampa Bay team.

San Diego at Denver------ no line yet ------ The Chargers are imploding, the Broncos are coming off a road loss. Looks like a mile high 0 - 5 (did that rhyme? ) for the Chargers to me.

Baltimore at San Francisco------ no line yet ------ Had Alex Smith not gone down, I might have given the niner's the nod here but even though I don't think Dilfer is too bad a QB (drives the bus well enough) I think the ravens Defense will over come and Baltimore wins on the road. I may have to rethink this later though.

Chicago at Green Bay------ Packers by 3 ------ Cheeseheads are beginning to believe. Chicagos defense is getting really banged up and it's in Green Bay. Even though they don't have a running game to speak of, I'm taking the Packers at this point.

Dallas at Buffalo------ Cowboys by 10.5 ------ Although this game won't change the mind of anyone who still doubts the Cowboys, they're still going to be the 5 - 0 Cowboys after this game. Dallas' defense is finally getting healthy again. ('cept for one of their corners getting a little nicked in the Rams game) Ellis and Newman are pretty much back. The offense can pretty much score at will after getting rolling and with a D that is gaining confidence by the game, this team is only getting stronger. Cowboys win.

Byes: Cincy, Oakland, Minnesota and Philly - I think all 4 of these teams may actually try and find a way to lose on their off weekend.

BTW, I think your 14-2 prediction for the Browns this year is pretty much wishful thinking. Over the rest of their schedule I see at least 9 losses coming. So 5-11 at best IMH un-biased O.
