AK - tough turn and river

Postby briachek » Mon Jun 13, 2005 9:03 pm

Is this how I should play this on the turn and river? I have the flush outs and the river card either helped me or killed me but he was giving me odds. Villain has 20% vp$ip and pretty aggressive.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.5 BB (10 handed)

MP2 ($52.1)
MP3 ($17.75)
Hero ($85.75)
Button ($49.85)
SB ($41.44)
BB ($37.4)
UTG ($93.86)
UTG+1 ($58.55)
UTG+2 ($41.2)
MP1 ($89.05)

Preflop: Hero is CO with [Kc], [Ah].
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $0.50, UTG+2 calls $0.50, 1 fold, MP2 calls $0.50, MP3 calls $0.50, Hero raises to $3, 3 folds, UTG+1 calls $2.50, UTG+2 calls $2.50, MP2 calls $2.50, MP3 folds.

Flop: ($13.25) [9h], [Qh], [8c] (4 players)
UTG+1 checks, UTG+2 checks, MP2 checks, Hero checks.

Turn: ($13.25) [Kh] (4 players)
UTG+1 bets $5, UTG+2 folds, MP2 folds, Hero calls $5.

River: ($23.25) [Qs] (2 players)
UTG+1 bets $7, Hero calls $7.

Final Pot: $37.25

Results in white below:
UTG+1 has 8d 8s (full house, eights full of queens).
Hero has Kc Ah (two pair, kings and queens).
Outcome: UTG+1 wins $37.25.

I guess I lost the least I could have in this pot.

im failry new at this.. but id still like to add what i wouldve done...

a pot sized bet on the flop after its checked around to you wouldve definately induced a reraise from the villian...

a check raise from someone who just limped/ called preflop screams set to me...

with only AK you wouldve had no choice but to fold..

just my thoughts...

Looks right, I might raise the turn, depending on who villian is.

Gotta check that flop with that many people in...

I would probably raise the turn since I like to be aggressive. Would check the river behind though, unless I hit the flush.

UTG+1 is a muppet who let you off way to easy. I think you played it fine.
