NFL Week 5, whew, almost didn't make it!

Postby SebQtaneus » Sat Oct 13, 2007 11:56 am

Due to technical difficulties, :P , this weeks picks are a tad late coming. But I did manage to make it at the last second it seems.

Minnesota (1-3, 0-2 away) at Chicago (2-3, 1-1 home) Divisional game. I want this to be a hard to pick game as most divisional showdowns are, but unfortunately for the Vikings I don't think it is. Bears win.

Miami (0-5, 0-3 away) at Cleveland (2-3, 2-1 home) I can't believe I am doing this but here I go. I pick the browns to win. Ugh, ack, puke, yuck, that tasted bad to say. (lol, j/k, I just know we have some Browns fans here so I couldn't help myself) Honestly though, it really isn't a hard pick to make. Cleveland's 2 wins have come against divional teams which is actualy fairly impressive. Would be more so if one of those teams didn't have less wins than them. The Dolphins, well even though they played much better last week, and finally got rid of that ancient QB who was never all that great to begin with, they are just gonna have to settle for picking high in the draft next spring.

Washington (3-1, 1-0 away) at Green Bay (4-1, 2-1 home) Wow, now this should be a really good game! If it weren't in Green Bay I'd have a much easier time picking the Redskins. As it IS in Green Bay, hmmm, well, I'm still gonna have to go with the Redskins because of their defense. Redskins win. But I won't be too surprised if I miss this one.

Cincinnati (1-3, 0-2 away) at Kansas City (2-3, 1-1 home) I'm gonna say the Bengals win this in somewhat of an upset being as how it's in Arrowhead Stadium. The Bengals know they need to keep up with the Steelers if there is gonna be any hope for post season. And their offense can definitely put numbers up on the score board. But dang, it's a road game in a tough stadium. If Jacksonville hadn't done it last week, I would say there's no chance for the kitties to win. But they did, so I am gonna go with Cincy in this game.

Philadelphia (1-3, 0-2 away) at New York Jets (1-4, 1-1 home) Eagles. Not even close to a hard pick to make even though the records of the teams would indicate otherwise.

Tennessee (3-1, 2-0 away) at Tampa Bay (3-2, 2-0 home) I'm takin' the Titans in this one. But I do feel the Bucs have done much better so far this season than was expected by most folks.

Houston (3-2, 1-1 away) at Jacksonville (3-1, 1-1 home) This should be a tough divisional game. But I'm gonna go with the Jags for 3 reasons. Real good defense, real good running game, and home field advantage.

St. Louis (0-5, 0-2 away) at Baltimore (3-2, 2-0 home) Is there really anyone out there who would pick a 0-5 team to beat the Ravens in Baltimore? Ravens win.

Carolina (3-2, 3-0 away) at Arizona (3-2, 2-0 home) Arizona Cardinals are the NL West leaders? For chrissakes, what is the world coming to?!! Even though I have never been a huge Kurt Warner fan, I don't see the Panthers winning on the road again this week. Cardinals win and get to 4-2 for what has to be the first time EVAH!!!

New England (5-0, 2-0 away) at Dallas (5-0, 2-0 home) Super Bowl Preview anyone? Getcha Popcorn Ready! I know most folks are picking the Pats to win on the road here, but I'm not. Surprise!  Honestly, I know New England has a great team and all, but everyone has been talking about how the teams that Dallas has beaten so far have such a poor record anyway. Well, I looked at the records of the teams that NE has beaten this year and I count only ONE more win amongst those teams than I do the ones that the Cowboys have beaten. Romo had somewhat of a meltdown last week on the road and still managed to lead his team to a last second victory. I know the Pats creamed buffalo when they played them. Well, how many points did Buffalo score on offense against both teams? Romo aint turning it over 6 times this week. Being the biased fan that I am, I think Dallas is going to win this HOME game and surprise the hell out of a lot of folks. We did the same thing to Indy last year if you recall. The key for Dallas will be to not let the Pats get off to a fast start.

Oakland (2-2, 1-1 away) at San Diego (2-3, 1-1 home) Chargers win this one. The dam was breached last week for San Diego and the flood that will now spread is going to drown the Raider's hope of winning on the road against this divisional opponent.

New Orleans (0-4, 0-2 away) at Seattle (3-2, 2-0 home) Seahawks got embarrassed badly on the road last week in Pitt. Too bad for the Aints. Seattle rolls.

New York Giants (3-2, 1-1 away) at Atlanta (1-4, 1-1 home) Could any 2 teams be going more in opposite directions? Giants win handily.

Bye week for: Buffalo, Denver, Detroit, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, For cryin' out loud! Why are we giving 20% of the league the same day off?

Go Vikings (can't believe I said that). Only to help us out with the divisional record. I hate the 'Queens.

Go Cowboys (hurts just the same). I was hoping they'd follow through and lose against Buffalo, and then come back angry/hungry enough to beat the Pats.

After a collective meltdown by players and coaches in Green Bay Sunday night, this week's game is huge. Detroit made the 'Skins look better than they are offensively, but Washington's D looks pretty damn tough. Hopefully McCarthy learned his lesson after the 2nd half of last week's game and doesn't try to "deal" with the Tampa-2 D by running the ball every damn down.

Looks like a boring week otherwise.

Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.

Pats will beat Cowboys. No doubt in my mind. The only way the Pats can lose a game this season is by playing a mirror match. In other words, they aren't EVER going to lose this season. PERFECT SEASON HERE WE GO!!!

Jets are gonna get creamed by Philadelphia. I'm still rooting for the Jets anyways - have been all my life anyways.

Romo reminds you of Plummer?

Before today he has 16 starts in his career. He has a career 94.4 QB rating and has thrown for more yards than ANY QB in history in their first 16 starts.

The game is over now and its pretty clear what happens when the best AFC team plays the best NFC team.

I told my friend last week that if NE was -3 or less I was going to bet the farm on the Pats. Too bad for me the line got too high. I almost got sucked in by it.
