Spyware Viruses etc HELP

Postby Mad Genius » Tue Jun 14, 2005 12:13 pm

Okay so for the first time that I can remember I am getting these messages on my computer telling my it will crash and that I have Spyware, Trojan Viruses, etc. and that my browser may be hijacked and whatnot. For example, I just got this message

Message from SYSTEM to WINDOWS on 2005-06-14 2:10:43

Critical Error

The Microsoft Windows system contains invalid registry entries and your computer will crash. Please download the Windows registry application form:

I've been getting several similar ones like these, they all link me to som anti-spyware websites, but I'm wondering if they are just well-disguised ads or do I need to do something about this. I run Ad-Aware and Spybot Search&Destroy as well as Norton Antivirus once in a while so I try to keep my computer clean.

The best thing to do is to retore your computer to a few days ago before this was happening. It only takes a couple mins. Ive done it a couple times now.

Dont click anything that looks suspicious like that link.

Have you updated ad-aware, spybot and norton recently and run a full system scan? They look just like disguised ads so I wouldn't click on them.

Also, if you are running Windows XP, do you have service pack 2? If so, it includes a pop up blocker that you can put on. Its in the Tools -> Internet Options -> Privacy tab at the bottom.

I would also run a windows update and get all the update like security fixes and patches for IE and such.

Hope that works. If not, STOP GOING TO ALL THOSE PORNO SITES!

Iceman, how do I do that? I'm pretty clueless when it comes to these things.

What kind of computer do you have? Is it a Dell or Compaq?

Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

Vinny: Why are we stopped here? What's wrong with that spot?
Tyrone: It's too tight.
