Take LAG out of the lead?

Postby scarface » Wed Jun 15, 2005 7:54 pm

MP1 is LAG, very bad 70% VP$IP, on an earlier hand, he cold called a 4XBB raise with 97os, I flopped an A with AK in my hand, bet pot and he calls with nothing, catches 9 on turn and 7 on river to beat my aces, and then doesn't even reraise my 1/2 pot river bet with no flush or straight on the board!

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed)

saw flop|saw showdown

MP1 ($59.92)
MP2 ($47.5)
MP3 ($5)
Hero ($24.4)
Button ($49.95)
SB ($25.1)
BB ($46.38)
UTG ($35.95)
UTG+1 ($8.45)

Preflop: Hero is CO with [9d], [Qd]. SB posts a blind of $0.1.
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $0.25, MP1 calls $0.25, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.25, Button calls $0.25, SB (poster) completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($1.50) [9s], [6s], [Qh] (6 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG+1 bets $0.5, MP1 raises to $1, Hero raises to $1.5, Button folds, SB folds,
BB folds, UTG+1 calls $1, MP1 calls $0.50.

Turn: ($6) [8c] (3 players)
UTG+1 checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets $5, UTG+1 calls $5, MP1 folds.

River: ($16) [Qc] (2 players)
UTG+1 calls $1.70 (All-In), Hero calls $1.70.

Final Pot: $19.40

Results in white below:
UTG+1 has Td Qs (three of a kind, queens).
Hero has 9d Qd (full house, queens full of nines).
Outcome: Hero wins $19.40.

On the flop, should I have just called here to keep LAG in the lead, and wait to reraise him on the turn when he bets? The more I think about it, my minraise on the flop didn't really accomplish anything, I did it hoping he would reraise me and I could move in, but it really just advertised my strength without killing the odds for a flush draw.

is this guy LAG or is he just very loose passive?

i would raise the flop to around 3.50. there are too many draws out there to just call here and checkraise the turn. lots of scary cards could come.
