Overpair vs a rock

Postby briachek » Fri Jun 17, 2005 11:16 pm

Villian has 9% VP$IP and is pretty aggressive. I called the $4 as a kinda set it or forget it barring new information as I put him on an overpair. I got a flop that could get me in a lot of trouble. I haven't seen any hands from this guy except one limp that he called a raise and won with a mid set.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.5 BB (10 handed)

UTG+2 ($70.05)
MP1 ($67)
MP2 ($49.25)
MP3 ($52.5)
Hero ($68.7)
Button ($49.8)
SB ($62.3)
BB ($47.5)
UTG ($40.59)
UTG+1 ($47.95)

Preflop: Hero is CO with [Tc], [Td].
3 folds, MP1 raises to $4, 2 folds, Hero calls $4, Button calls $4, 2 folds.

Flop: ($12.75) [3c], [6c], [2s] (3 players)
MP1 bets $15, Hero folds, Button folds.

Final Pot: $27.75

Results in white below:
No showdown. MP1 wins $27.75.

I got TT so many times this session and the was the only nice flop for me and I had to drop it. Good laydown? Any other action involves all in. Is this standard against a rock with a medium overpair. Since he shows so little, it is possible he plays AK the same.

Against a guy like that, he has AA, KK, QQ, JJ, or AK. I dont like you odds.

Like Ice said, there are about 5 or 6 hands he's gonna play if he's only seeing 9% of flops... And you're WAY behind all of them except AK... Against a normal $50NL player, I'd bet it out, but against this rock, it's an easy fold...

Nice to have reads on people sometimes, huh... :D

The way you describe the opponent, I don't think there's any way you could even possibly consider calling this, you gotta know that you're looking at 2 outs, or at best, dodging 6 cards.
