Well "strong corroborated" is a little 'strong' because there were a lot of gospels left out...so it's a very incomplete picture. Saying that the bible that we have is "god breathed" is just UTTERLY laughable: it's quite impossible for it to have remained unaltered for 2k+ years.

No, T-Rod, you're very very wrong here. There are a number of respected scholarly books on the subject of how the bible has transformed over the centuries. It's laughable not because I'm suggesting that it's impossible that the ORIGINAL was god's word (but, lol at that anyway), but because the current version is different from the original.

Wow someone remembered my theory of religion post. I am honored and delighted.

I'll just weigh in here on a couple of factual questions and try to leave my opinions out of it....

The scholarly consensus is that Jesus existed. That bare minimum basically has to be true. (The wikipedia article agrees: "A very small minority argue that Jesus never existed as a historical figure, but was a purely symbolic or mythical figure syncretized from various non-Abrahamic deities and heroes" The fact that people all around the world have ascribed to their deities a whole bunch of the same attributes that was ascribed to Jesus is certainly true, but it doesn't mean Jesus wasn't a real person. It's almost certainly true historically that the church invented December 25th as a birthday for Jesus in order to try to steal the thunder from the pagans who were celebrating the winter solstice at that time; nothing in the Bible says anything about Jesus being born on any particular date.
