My vote is somewhat 'tainted' because I'm going to do my PhD in philosophy with the intention of becoming a professor. I used to be in chemistry, where a PhD would make 120k/yr+ to start, but as a philosophy prof it's around 35k assuming you find a tenure track job. Clearly, I've chosen a profession because I love it...not for the money. But, I've said for awhile that even if I made millions, I'd still want to do it, because that's what I want to do with my time.

Winning 20mil may let you quit a crappy job, but you still have to fill your time SOMEHOW, and you can only do the leisure thing for so long. So, I put "new career"

Since poker is my job, and I play it to make a living, if I had enough to live comfortably ever after (and trust me, $10.000.000 is way more than I need) I could no longer motivate myself to play. Does that put me in the 'retire' bracket though? I mean I still do a lot of "volonteer work" which I would continue doing...

Frankly, I think I could live comfortably for the rest of my live (let's say 40 years) on one million $. Ten would definetely be 'extravagantly' to me. It's $20k/month ffs.

I wonder what would happen with my poker... I don't think I would have the nerves to go through levels of NL100, 200, 400 etc. because I would be able to afford much higher games then that... but that's career wise... I would play poker for fun def. but would also try and look for something else...

Of course, there's always that: 5mil in an investment fund or stocks or whatever and 5 mil for my "pleasure/life"... Still.. I don't know what I would do TBH.. probably finish college for starters because I would be able to afford to live abroad and study something that interests me.. then MBA.. etc. ..Traveling the world is not a career, is it? :p

I think you could live rather comfortable no $10 mil. You could easily find something that can throw you off 6% annually in interest without really breaking a sweat for 600K a year. Which is easily enough to enjoy life comfortably on is most places in the US.

I don't think I'd necessarly have a job, maybe consider doing some volunteer work or something to that effect somewhere.. Just to kind of interact with some people and do something helpfull. But not something that's could actually be considered a job. I'd still play poker though, I enjoy the game but I wouldn't just jump up to a level because I might have the $ to handle it. I'd still work at beating different levels as I move up, cuz I'm a nit like that.

If I had that kind of money, I'd start a vineyard, build a house or two, and probably find a startup to fund. Which I guess would probably all be lots of work, but it sounds fun to me.

I would buy the Dolphins. They would have to come down from $10 Mill though.
