Is Iraq getting better?

I thought it was an interesting article. If people can't discuss the subject in a mature way, that's their problem (and, possibly, mine :lol:

).

I think it certainly draws to our attention the fact that it's very difficult to ascertain exactly what's happening on the ground in a war zone. Not because there's too little information, but because (if anything these days) there's too much of it, coming from different qualitative sources.

Its going to go to shit when we leave for sure....but thats what the people want..so whatever.

When we have to go back in 10 years, they will wish we stayed longer this time.

I wouldnt be surprised in Iran moves into Iraq when we leave.

There are definitely some hopeful signs that they're rejecting al Queda and their tactics.

Given the political vacuum though I expect it will be a bloody power struggle once we leave, and probably the country will be split in 10 years or so, with an Iran-like Shia state to the south and moderate Sunni and Kurd states in the north.

it seems like things are changing, I posted a like to a Der speigel article before I was banned that showed positive signs. There were a lot of positive reports coming out at that time.

Indications that people are joining the insurgency for the money and not any deep seated hatred and that a real civil war never took hold, but who knows? I am hopeful.

I'm not really sure what "The insurgency" is. I don't think it's a very useful term.
