Good flop, no draws. They expect me to have AK so I make a medium size c-bet of $3 because I don't mind looking weak. The button bites, but the BB folds.

This looks good, but we have 3 options when you get a caller on this board.
1 - He has an Ace also and if he hasn't hit his kicker, he'll give me his stack anyway.
2 - He flopped a set, in which case I'm losing my stack.
3 - He won't call another bet with a lone pair, but could bluff if I check.
So I check and he bets $6.75. I think about a c/r, but just call for the reasons I just gave.

I check again. He bets $11, I call. He turns over pocket 5's.
Again, this seems to be the way I'm making the most profit lately with trips. If I had gotten aggressive, he would have dumped his hand by the turn. Here I pick up an extra $17 profit.
And as I said, if he had an Ace, it works out the same because he's going to bet anyway and if he has a set he's going to bet too. So I win or lose about the same in those instances, but I also win when he has less too which I don't if I'm the aggressor.
This has become my standard play when I have NO read on the player or table. With stats or a read it's more player dependant. I'll let the aggressive guy bluff, the station call, etc... So, even though it's been working well over a few week span, is it the wrong default for unknowns where the tables on the site in general seem to be aggressive? Ok, let me have it.
