If you don't box very, very clever (by finding cheap places to stay), Southern France peak season will bankrupt you, as will London.

if you've never been abroad before (lol @USA obv) mainland Greece is a good idea, as are parts of Italy and Spain, though they'll all be fucking hot at that time of year. So hot, in fact, that the beaches are nudist, so make sure to post some wifey pics please, thanks.

You'll get by fine with a standard phrase book - half the fun is making an arse of yourself in a foreign language.
