College Football sucks

Postby Rhound50 » Tue Jan 08, 2008 11:23 am

What a totally anticlimactic end to a crazy season. There were more upsets and more juggling of the first 5 spots than any season I can remember. The sad part is that it had to end like this. LSU had OSU totally over matched, they went into halftime with a lead and sat on it. The 2nd half got exciting for a couple min and then just kinda ended. One of the least exciting championship games in recent history.

Imagine if college football didn't have the worst post season setup of all sports and right now we were instead looking at this weekend where Georgia is playing LSU and West Virginia is playing USC for the right to play in a real national championship game. Personally I would be excited. I made myself a promise that this is the last year I get into college football til they do something to fix the awful way they crown a national champion.

As much as I love football I have lost almost all interest in NCAA football. IMO, if they would have had a playoff for the last 10 years or so, NCAA football would be way more popular than it is today (and it's pretty popular). I didn't watch hardly any bowls this year...just most of the FL-Mich game and the very beginning of the GT-Fresno game until GT starting stinkin' it up. Didn't watch any of last night (lol @ watching WSOP reruns for the 29th time instead).

Meanwhile I watched all four NFL playoff games glued to the screen.

One of the most basic elements of sport is that you actually play the game and compete...not pick the best team 'on paper'.

I thought the season was fun to follow. The bowls left me wanting, but that has been true for most bowls I've seen...there are few really good bowl games, although there is always a gem or two out there.

I watched the NFL playoff games last week too, but I can't say I was glued to the screen. I followed the whole season, and I think every home team this weekend is going to win, and it didn't matter who they would be matched up against. The NFL teams that played this last weekend did not impress at all. It was as if they saved their very mediocre performances for their last game.

I'm waiting on the 20th for the good games to start.

I've always not been interested in NCAA football because of a lack of playoffs. MVP and I had a discussion about a month or so ago and he was pretty much saying can't put LSU up against Hawaii and have them get creamed in a bowl game. I'm thinking why not? Hawaii played the best season ever for their conference and what do they get in the point standings? Total BS.

The world series of poker used to be decided by a vote too, and that was equally lame.
