Villan is very solid...he is 22.5/18.5 over 9494 hands and up $6k. I hav been worknig on not being such a payoff monkey...just can't see any other hand he has here other than a set...remember this guy is good and he is never going to turn AJ AQ into a bluff here and I don't think he calls preflop with A7/A5. He 3 bets AK preflop, Xaston said 67 or 56s perhaps, which I guess may be possible, but its unlikely.

Good for you. I had a very similar hand recently with AK but the board was K98K and I knew he had the set but I paid him off anyway. Go with your gut.

B/c I double barrell this turn everytime when I don't have it as it's a good scare card. If I am betting it when I don't have it, I have to bet it when I do have it as well.

That makes more sense, your initial post made him sound a bit more nitty. Still I don't think he is that solid preflop if calling with AJ and not 3betting AQ there?

I still call/stack off for what its worth, but I guess thats why I'm back playing NL200 :P

On one hand I like your fold, on another I don't. On one hand, you went with your gut, and made a tough laydown when you feared a set, which is great. On the other, if villain knows you will interpret this move as a set, then he can make this play with air and own you.

I played a hand somewhat like this the other day and I stacked off, and regretted it later as I should have got away. The difference was that my villain was much tighter and not as good (and therefore would play more to the strength of his cards). If this guy is good he may know you 2 barrel this turn with your whole range and therefore be owning you with a C/R.
Villain: Why?
Villain: How?
Me: I had a feeling
Villian: Sit in you cretin

well considering up until today I would have stacked off every time here....I can confidently say that villan thinks there is no way he can get me to fold AK here.

Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

When I play a patient and relaxed game I win - that simple.
