Vegas report

Postby Rhound50 » Sat Jun 25, 2005 12:25 pm

I got back from Vegas last night so here is my report on the trip, most of my actual poker play I will post in my Journal, but here is some of the fun stuff. First off we saw a ton of pro's, yeah I know no $hit we were at the Rio during the WSOP what else would you expect. I didnt really expect to care but there was something really cool about seeing these guys in person. We got to watch the final table of the $1500 NL, Greg Raymer, Mark Seif, and the DevilFish were the notables that made the final table. Not to kill anyones fun but here is a crazy hand from the final table. It limps to Raymer who is on the button, we havent seen a flop in about 20 min, Raymer limps. Seif completes from the SB, BB checks flop comes out A35. Seif checks, BB checks, Raymer makes a moderate bet, Seif check raises all in, Raymer calls instanty. Raymer has AA, Seif flopped the str8 with 24, yikes.

My new claim to faim is now that I got in Doyle Brunsons way, I was signing up at the board to play and I hear excuse me sir, I look behind me and I see a man trying to get around me in one of the motorized Rascals scooters. I said oops sorry, and got out of his way. As he was driving past me I got a good look at him for the first time and it was Doyle.

Two of the worst hands I've seen played in poker in a long time.
Hand 1: 1/2 NL at MGM, raise to $8 from mp, 3 callers. Flop is A83 rainbow, utg is all in for $45, preflop raiser reraises all in for $100 or so. Player to my buddy Mitch's left shows him his cards and folds. I was at the other table and I come to find out this guy folded 88. I dont know what you call a flop raise for if you plan on folding on that perfect board. Both players were playing high aces and were drawing to running boat.

Hand 2: 2/5nl at Rio, UTG raises to $10, 4 players call to CO who is an absoulte rock who reraises to $60. 2 callers. Flop comes out [10c] 10 [Kc]. UTG checks Mp goes all in for $400, folds to CO who shows AA and mucks. MP player shows his K10, and says I didnt want to get sucked out again. Can someone explain to me on this table of morons how I didnt win.

Rhound... glad to have ya back... Believe it or not, I think I might have ya beat...

I saw a guy at the Mirage check his straight-flush on the river... Usually I don't get involved in shit talking, but I asked the guy what the hell he was doing... He said he was afraid of somone having an A-high flush... Needless to say, I didn't talk to him again...

I also saw a guy, a different day but the same table, get into a 3-way allin, make the other big stack fold, and then muck his cards before showdown to let the SS win a HUGE pot w/ nothing (the mucker said he had a boat, the guy he made fold had a baby flush, and the Short Stack had a pair of Kings)...

The funny part about hand 1 is that I missed the conversation but I was watching and the look on Mitcheze's face was pretty funny. I knew for his reaction that the guy folded a monster, I thought maybe AK. The guy asked Mitch what he would have done and Mitch said with a straight face, I might have called.

By "might have called", did he mean shovel the remainder of his chips over the granite into the yellow circle as fast as he can?
